Great Tour Guide but a little disappointed

First off Miguel is a gem and was a fantastic guide. He is very warm and personable but we were a little disappointed. The tour was only the 3 of us and Miguel contacted us to ask if we could start a little later due to a family issue and we agreed since it was only about 30 minutes. However, our understanding was that we would still get the full duration of the booking, this was not the case. We didn't really leave Lisbon until around 11am and it felt a bit rushed. We were given free time at the beach but not a lot of direction of where to go etc. I can see from the pictures people went to the rocks and were picking up starfish etc. none of this was explained to us unfortunately. Following this was supposed to be a visit to the caves, Miguel explained it would have to be a very quick and was over 200 steps down and back up again which would have basically been going down and coming back up almost immediately in order to get to the winery. We voluntarily opted not to do this however our decision might have been different if we would have had the full time to do it. The winery was nice and okay but we felt we were in a bit of a rush to finish the tour in accordance with the time it should have ended if we had left on time at 10am. One other point is that the description on Viator says lunch is an average of 15 Euro per person, this is not accurate. The restaurant is fairly expensive and we ended up spending over $150 CAD for three people and did not even order the most expensive items (e.g. salad, fish sticks etc.). Be warned, restaurants in Portugal will bring out a cheese and sauce tray without asking and you are charged for it. We would not have asked for it and this was an additional 20 Euro almost. We feel this should be explained especially to non-European travelers. In the end, we felt we didn't really get our full money's worth for what we paid. It was our first day in Lisbon as well so we didn't really know what to expect. Lessons learned.

Awesome way to get out of the city and see a different side of Portugal!

We really enjoyed our day exploring Setubal and the Arrabida park. It was great to be outside and in nature, all in a super relaxed and fun environment!

    Something to relax

Our tour guide Miguel was excellent. The whole day was relaxing, with beautiful views and nature, plus great vine and lunch. It's the excellent choice to make this trip to relax and get away from Lisbon into different face of Portugal. I recharged my batteries.

Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise cost?

    +

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Arrábida: The Secret Paradise start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
