Sri Lankan adventure

Hannan ( our guide) and Raja ( our driver) were extremely helpful and knowledgeable during our 8 day tour. My husband and I and our two teenage boys particularly enjoyed the elephant safari, tea factory visit and train journey through the upcountry.

Response from the operator: Dear Dima, Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so happy to hear that you, Matt and your two sons had a memorable Sri Lankan adventure. Despite the few challenges along the way, it's wonderful to know that you were still able to enjoy the safari, tea factory visit and the incredible train journey. Hannan and Raja will be delighted to hear your kind words as they always go above and beyond to make sure our guests feel supported and well taken care of. We hope their knowledge and care made a difference during your tour. We also heard that you enjoyed the beauty of Kandy and the majectic Sigiriya, these are such highlights of our island, and its great that your family connected with them. Thank you for choosing Blue Lanka Tours, we hope to welcome you all back someday for a longer and even more fulfilling experience in Sri Lanka. With Big Respect and Much Love, Dinesh N. Perera

Best tour company one could ask for

I have fallen in love with Sri Lanka mainly because of the amazing care, thoughtfulness and attention to detail from Blue Lanka tours. Everyone that works for this company is truly a blessing to meet and learn from. Our five day tour we had with Blue Lanka could not have been more perfect. When we were not able to take the train ride we had planned, our guide quickly solved our problem by instead having us enjoying a Tea Plantation tour. All of the people in the office were so patient with all the changes we made to our tour and the suggestions they had for our tour was also perfect in giving us a great taste and experience of this lovely country. I will be coming back to Sri Lanka and the first thing I will do is call up Blue Lanka Tours to once again lead the way in introducing me to more of this breath taking country. I cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful life experience. LB

Response from the operator: Dearest Lizbeth. Greetings from Blue Lanka Tours ! Many thanks for dropping us a review on TripAdvisor. Lizbeth, first it was an absolute charm meeting you and your friends for a brief moment. We truly loved welcoming you all and setting you off for the tour with our team - Blue Lanka. Thank you for the most humbling words about our team. We are most thankful and overjoyed by your review here. Everyone back office and on site works enormously to make ends meet. More than anything, having our Managing Director Mr. Dinesh Perera taking your tour officially as guide was truly the highlight for all of us. He encourages us and pushes us daily to achieve the best of best for the team. And because of this, I believe, today we are a very strong with the ability to have a very positive influence on truly beloved clients like yourselves. We were truly upset over the train incident as well. Unfortunately, such sudden incidents bring us to compromise. Having said that we are glad we were able to arrange the Tea Tour immediately for you and your friends. A zillion thanks for your feedback and for making us your trusted traveling friend in Sri Lanka. We await your arrival again impatiently Lizbeth. Until then, take care and stay safe! with Much Love & Big Respect, Carol R Taylor

Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.

How much does Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka cost?

+

Prices start at $52 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.

Is Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dine With Local Family in Sri Lanka start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Colombo?

+

On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Colombo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Colombo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
