Never use HLTC to visit Pearl Harbour

This was billed as a deluxe tour, we experienced no such thing, there was a distinct lack of anything deluxe about the tour. We were only given a bottle of water and one chew bar. There was confusion about any bags you could take. In the information it stated that you could not take bags. Yet in a WhatsApp message from HLTC, it stated you could take a bag provided it was not bigger than 5.5 x 2.5 x 1.5. So, I took a small bag to be told when we met our driver that you cannot take bags in with you, which meant I had to squeeze my bum bag into my pocket all throughout the visit, which was very unpleasant. The driver was chaotic, the information he provided was confusing and contradictory. He stated he would get us there in time to see the movie before our visit to the memorial, which he said was very important. It was important to see the movie first, however he was so slow and messed about so much that we ran out of time to see the movie before the memorial, which was really disappointing. Plus, all the driver kept saying was how frazzled he was and then on the way back was moaning about how stressed he was; it’s not what you want to hear. He didn’t put his head set on so the people in the rear of the bus could not hear him. Then, when they told him they could not hear him, he put his head set on without any sound; it was calamitous. We actually enjoyed our visit and paying our respects to those who had fallen, which is no thanks to the driver or HLTC. We required far more information about what to expect inside the park; for example access to food and where it could be purchased. Overall, very poor value for money.

Regarding bags, the information provided by HLTC was not contradictory. Pearl Harbor has a strict no-bag policy, with an exception for very small items measuring no more than approximately 1.25 x 2.25 x 5.5 inches, as stated in the message sent before your tour. Clear bags are also permitted. Any item exceeding the permitted dimensions must be placed in the Pearl Harbor bag-storage facility for a fee. These restrictions are established by Pearl Harbor, not HLTC, and we provide the dimensions in advance specifically so guests can prepare accordingly. The term “Deluxe” refers to the overall tour package, including coordinated transportation, Pearl Harbor arrangements, bottled water and a snack, orientation, and the additional narrated Honolulu portion of the tour. It does not mean that meals, luxury amenities, or private guiding inside the Pearl Harbor National Memorial are included. The Pearl Harbor documentary is worthwhile, but it is not a requirement for visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, and admission to the Memorial is governed by a specific Navy shuttle time. That scheduled departure must take priority rather than risk guests missing their USS Arizona reservation. Pearl Harbor itself is operated by the National Park Service and associated organizations, and commercial tour guides are restricted in where they may conduct tours inside the site. We are pleased that, despite your concerns with the transportation portion of the experience, you were able to enjoy your visit and pay your respects at the USS Arizona Memorial.

Ok,with reservations

Dave,our driver and guide,was great. Very informative and personable. A lot of information about Oahu was presented. However, I had issues with that”dispatch” parties. Our Jitney was late. The jitney driver ahead of ours didn’t know about our pickup. We called and the person who answered was short and sounded annoyed we called. Not helpful That is the reason for my rating. And no I will not use this company again

Regarding the pickup, the driver operating the vehicle ahead of yours would not necessarily have information about passengers assigned to another vehicle. Great trip! So much to...

Great trip! So much to see and do, there was not enough time in the day to fit it all in. Our driver/guide David was fun and knowledgeable about the site and made great suggestions as to what to do to make the most of the experience. The Arizona memorial was beautiful and despite the many visitors, was still a place of reverence and respect. The Missouri was fascinating, too. Wish I had all day to go through it. Want to go back to see the Aviation Museum, too.

Hawaiian & US history Don’t Skip

Being able to do this all in one tour was nice, just the right amount of time. Dave was informative on how to get in and around Pearl Harbor. The Honolulu part was interesting to learn the Hawaiian history.

Must see!

Pick this one! Multiple people there didn’t realize the battleship wasn’t with Arizona tours and missed it but it was worth the time/cost if you’re able to fit both in! Well organized & a good amount of time to see both. A very somber day but so glad we did it.
