Fantastic day exploring and tasting the valley!

Sara and Ken were great! I ignored their one poor review and glad I did! We told them, we want small, boutique and boy they delivered. The views and the wines were fantastic. Transportation was first rate. Sara didn’t rush us but kept us on time. Highly recommend their team, it’s a great way to see the valley and learn from great locals, who all seemed to be friends as well!

    Great private tour with Sara

We had a lovely tour experience with Sara. Sara picked us up at our hotel and shuttled us around in a luxury SUV. We visited three wineries: Bergstrom, Norris, and Granville. Plus a lunch stop in Newberg. Sara is a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. The reason I did not give the tour a five-star rating was that, for the price, we expected the tastings to include more “older” vintage wines (i.e., before 2022), but they were instead heavily skewed toward younger vintages, mostly from 2023-2024. We were prepared to buy more bottles if we had been offered the chance to sample the older vintages. But alas, that was not the case. Just know this going in. Otherwise, we’d highly recommend this tour to other folks wanting a private tour with a very knowledgeable guide like Sara.

    Great wine tour!!

Sara was an excellent guide along this tour! On time, knowledgeable, great personality, and knew everyone everywhere we went! She took us to three different wineries and this was the perfect amount. There was no rush to be done at a certain time, no push to buy (though we did), and every single stop was great! I would highly recommend booking this! Communication was spot on with Ken and Sara!

Awful tour that made my wife sick

This is an awful experience and I don't recommend it to anyone. After pick up at the Allison Inn we visited the first winery and the guide there was nice and we tried a few wines and ordered a case to be shipped to Texas. The second winery was one young lady who knew nothing much about wine and we had two quick tastings and bought a couple of bottles. Then to "lunch" we prepaid for and it was a dump sandwich shop and my wife got sick from the terrible food before we left. Ken's credit card was declined so I had to pay for his lunch anyway- not cool. We had to return to the Allison so my wife could spend the afternoon sick. This is not as advertised and a waste of money.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the feedback. We’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet expectations, and we appreciate the chance to provide context for future guests. Lunches on our tours are not included in the tour price, as clearly stated on our TripAdvisor listings. Guests choose and pay for their own meals from select restaurants known for their quality. The restaurant visited that day has only five-star reviews and sources its ingredients from authentic Italian distributors. No credit card was ever declined. The primary guest kindly invited me to order lunch with them, which I thought was generous. The server came to collect payment from him when he returned from the restroom saying, “it didn’t go through,” which sounded like a glitch with their system. I was never asked for a card, expected anyone to pay for my meal, and I was quite surprised when I saw this comment in the review. Our business has a strong reputation in the community, and we take great care to ensure guests are never placed in awkward or unclear situations regarding payment. As mentioned, we ended the day early at your request. At the beginning of the tour, your wife shared that she was feeling unwell after a large five-course meal the evening before. You requested we conclude the tour early so she could return to rest. Out of respect for her wellbeing, I adjusted the schedule and returned you to your hotel prior to visiting the remaining two wineries on the itinerary. The final two stops were two of my favorite three wineries in the valley and I was sad that you could not experience them. Finally, the second winery you referenced was a “bonus” stop added to the suggested itinerary to enlarge and enhance the experience of the valley. I thought you would be excited we were going above and beyond. For reference, this boutique winery has garnered several Top 100 Wines of the World distinctions and is highly regarded in the industry. We value all feedback and remain committed to providing thoughtful, personalized tours that showcase Oregon’s wine country at its best. While we regret that this day fell short, we would be happy to welcome you back and provide a complimentary tour in the future. Our desire is always for complete satisfaction and to share the best of the Willamette Valley with every guest.

Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Portland.

How much does Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa cost?

    +

Prices start at $430 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Portland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Portland is not rushed.

Is Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Portland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Portland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Portland and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Custom Willamette Valley Wine Tours from The Allison Inn and Spa start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Portland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Portland?

    +

Portland's activity list is food cart and brewery crawls, Columbia River Gorge waterfall tours to Multnomah Falls, Mount Hood day trips and Willamette Valley pinot tastings. Gorge tours vary in how many falls they reach, so route detail is the deciding factor. On Outty we rank every Portland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Guided Oregon Coast Tour from Portland, Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge Half-Day Hiking Tour, Columbia Gorge Waterfalls and Mt. Hood Tour - Full Day. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Portland?

    +

June to October for the Gorge, with waterfalls at their fullest in spring. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Portland?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
