Amazing Private Tour - They have thought of everything.
This was an incredible private tour! From the start, the booking process was seamless, with follow-up reminders and detailed directions to the meeting point. Jodi and Rob did an exceptional job catering to everyone in our group, from a 13-year-old to an 80-year-old, ensuring we all had a fantastic experience. We explored Volcano National Park and were lucky enough to witness the active volcano—an unforgettable sight! They also took us on side trips to stunning waterfalls and breathtaking beaches. Every detail was thoughtfully planned. When they say VIP, they mean it: they provided flashlights, raincoats, and even special gadgets to help us capture perfect photos. We can’t recommend Jodi and Rob enough for their outstanding hospitality and expertise. This tour was truly one for the books!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! Wow! What a review! Thank you for taking the time to write in such detail! I am thrilled you saw lava. The volcano has gone quiet for now. I hope you have a wonderful, healthy, and happy 2025!

Excellent trip with a great guide.
Excellent personal tour with a highly knowledgeable and passionate guide. We spent the day traveling through large parts of volcanos national park. By the end of the day, we walked away understanding the history of the volcanos in Hawaii and got an appreciation of the lifecycle of volcanic eruptions. As a bonus, Kilauea erupted 2 days after we visited the park so we were treated to a spectacular view. Rob is also a fantastic photographer. Ask him to show you his photos.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Ofer! We appreciated you letting us show you around the National Park. Mahalo and a hui hou!

Highly Recommend!
What a great tour! Rob took us all over the Volcano National Park and shared his love of the area and vast experience. We learned about the different types of lava (who knew there is more than 1 type) and got a feel for what it is like when the lava is flowing. He took tons of pictures for us so we could focus on having fun. If you are on the big island, book this tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Jason for taking the time to write a review! It was our pleasure!

Awesome private tour of Volcanoes National Park!
Decided to visit the Volcanoes National Park while visiting friends on Oahu. So glad we chose Big Island VIP! Jodi was very helpful in setting up our itinerary, took care of all the details. Rob was our tour guide...he was fantastic, very knowledgeable of geology, plant life, and Hawaiian history! Not only did we see the active Kilauea vent, but he was able to get us into the park before the crowds, felt like we had the park to ourselves! Being in a comfortable private luxury tour van was also great, no waiting for others to get from site to site. Ended the day at Punalu'u black sand beach, took pictures with Hawaiian sea turtles sunning themselves on the beach! And the best part of it all was the pictures that Rob took of us, which were included at no extra cost, linked to their website. Mahalo Jodi and Rob, we will see you again!
Response from the operator: Mahalo nui! Rob is looking forward to golfing with you when you come stay on the island!

Awesome day full of adventures!
Jodi was a great tour guide! We saw so many sights and she answered all my kids (7 and 9) questions. The Volcano national park and the lava tube were some of our favorite sites. Also loved the rainbow falls. Glad we decided to do this.
Response from the operator: Thank you much Cynthia! It was my pleasure!!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hilo.
How much does Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops cost?
+
Prices start at $2295 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hilo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hilo is not rushed.
Is Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hilo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hilo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hilo and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Custom Volcanoes National Park Tour with extra stops start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hilo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hilo?
+
On Outty we rank every Hilo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hawaii Volcanoes, Waterfalls, Beaches & Hilo Highlights Day Tour, Hilo Shore Excursion: Active Volcano, Lava Tube, Waterfall and Gardens, Hilo Shore Excursion: Volcano Safari Lava Caves & Black Sand. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hilo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hilo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
