About this experience
A food tour with a felonious twist! The Federal Hill neighborhood of Providence is one of its hottest destinations, home to some of the best Italian food in the world. This tour will give you a smorgasbord of its best bites and drinks, from fine wines to family recipes passed down through generations. Come hungry! Every guest will also get a memento from their time on the Hill to take home with them. Spoiler alert: it's delicious! The Hill was also home to some historic characters who dabbled on the wrong side of the law. Follow the intrigue of State v. Patriarca, when a future mayor took on a mob boss; learn about the corruption which brought Rhode Island's banking system to its knees in the '90s, and about a raid on an illegal dice game that sent a Providence Police Officer through a second-story window. Guests under 21 will not be served alcohol on this tour. A min of four guests is required for all tours to run. If less than four are booked, we’ll contact you the morning.

Fun Time!!! Do it!!
The content and food stops were terrific. Dillon did a great job making sure we had places to sit and in the shade. Some of the stories got a little long and hard to follow but Dillon was so passionate and enthusiastic about the subject matter that I forced myself to stay engaged.

Food Fun and the mob in Providence
What a nice Sunday afternoon in Federal Hill. Our tour guide Dave was full of information and we were full of food by the time we left! Pasta with bolognese was delicious as was the bread and wine served at our first stop. Stories of Raymond Patriarca and the mafia doings in Providence were also informative and entertaining. Dave knows his stuff and has pictures to back it up! Additional stops at Venda, pizza place and old open market as well as history and fun facts made the afternoon a hit with our group. Nice people, good food, great stories, and things we didn’t know about Buddy Cianci, mayor and “builder” of Providence. 3-1/2 hours well spent!

Lots of Crime and Cuisine
So much fun! Even with living close by, I learned so much, and in an enjoyable way. Tour guide Dave was funny, knowledgeable and personable. Food along the way was delicious. (Only one glass of wine though). Only complaint: young lady in information stop spoke so fast, she was not understandable. Many commented. Would recommend this trip, and on Saturday, the street is just open to pedestrians.

Why this scores 86
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Providence.
How much does Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Providence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Providence is not rushed.
Is Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 254 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Providence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill?
+
Around 89 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Providence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Providence and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Crime and Cuisine on Federal Hill start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Providence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Providence?
+
Providence runs Federal Hill food tours, gondola and river cruises, Brown and RISD campus walks, ghost tours through Benefit Street and WaterFire evenings in season. On Outty we rank every Providence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Haunted History Walking Tour of Providence, Discover Providence Guided Sightseeing Tour, Rhode Island in a Day. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Providence?
+
May to October, with WaterFire lightings from May through November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Providence?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
