Trip will cut short by 1 hour making us wait on lost n people. Their priority is filling boat not your schedule!
The woman that runs this company first priority is to fill each boat with bodies, regardless of skill level. Our tour was delayed by an hour which cut the time in the reef short. We were told we had to wait for a family of 6 who was lost. There were boat captains waiting and we watched others come and go. We were the 1st to arrive! Us and another couple had to wait. So we wait only to be told we are NOT going to Palancar reef!! Not sure where we went but they DO NOT ANCHOR, you jump in the water and have to stay by the guide (who is struggling with young 1st time snorklers!) There are many boats and they all look alike. I spent more time looking up to make sure I was with my party, then I got to snorkel. It was a joke. I also had to point out that while waiting in the shack for the lost people to be found by their van back by Mayan Square she offered to give me back my money if I didn't like the wait!! Time is everything on these excursions and there was no time left to find another. I will say the boat captain was great and made the best of it for us.
Response from the operator: Dear Cindy, we kindly ask to contact us because we do not have any reservation that matches your name and we also have no complaints that matches your description. We always make sure that you are given the correct time of the tour. Most likely you went with another company. We are contacting Trip Advisor to make sure, your comment will be moved to the correct operator, but unfortunately they are usually not very helpful in cases of a confusion. To help out, please contact our email info@leontours.com. Please write the booking name, your booking reference and the boat`s name to check. Thank you

Best experience
Absolutely fantastic experience, small Group, captain and guide very kind, very accommodating and knowledgeable. We were so lucky to even see dolphins swimming with us in the precious turquoise waters. Snorkeling was fantastic at 2 different reef sites, with many many fishes, turtles and even the little Nurse sharks. We always felt safe and were kindly attended by the staff, had drinks offered on our way and at el Cielo a huge plate of ceviche and fruit platter were served in the waist deep waters. It cannot get any better. Best experience and absolutely recommended would do it again and again with Leon Tours and their amazing staff
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your lovely feedback. We are glad you liked the excursion and hope, you come back to visit Mexico soon!!

NOT as expected. READ this
An honest review.. fair to average at best. Friendly and informative captain and tour guide. It only lasted 3.5 hours and most of it was the long boat ride. Saw very little other than rays and a few starfish. Snacks at the end were served only in the water when everyone was cold and wanted to board the boat. Not at all what was expected form other reviews.
Response from the operator: Dear Ron, Thank you for your honest feedback. I am sorry to hear that our snorkeling tour was not 100% what you expected. You called us boarding the boat that you wanted a catamaran tour but you mistakenly booked a standard boat tour. We do understand that it was a mistake but we do not offer catamaran tours and we could not offer you a last-minute change of the tour. Your places in the boat were already reserved and we were ready to leave for the tour and you agreed to join us. I am sorry that you did not see more creatures others than starfish and sting rays, but it is amazing that you saw them! It is the ocean and we often see more (moray eels, turtle or other beautiful fish and corals) and sometimes less. It also depends on the individual snorkeling skills how much you see. Unfortunately, we have no influence on that. You may have your fresh fruits, guacamole or ceviche we offer at El Cielo in the boat if you do not wish to enter the water. Just a word to the tour guide and they are very happy to help you with that! We already talked to the guide and captain and of course they would have made it possible but they did not know. We wish you a pleasant stay in Cozumel and enjoy the rest of your vacation!

High touch experience
Our family had a great snorkeling trip and loved our time with Lalo and Gustavo. Both were intent on curating the best experience possible. We saw plenty of fish, a sea turtle and stingrays. All very safe! Leon tours also graciously picked us up and dropped us back off at our resort’s dock! So easy and accommodating- first class from start to finish!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad that you liked the excursion and would like to send greetings from Gustavo and Lalo. We hope you enjoyed your vacation and to welcome you soon in Mexico again.

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.
How much does Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo cost?
+
Prices start at $1200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.
Is Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cozumel Snorkeling Tour to Palancar Reef and El Cielo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cozumel?
+
On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cozumel?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cozumel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
