    About this experience

The island of Cozumel with its turquoise waters, relaxed atmosphere and idyllic white sandy beaches is a paradise full of natural and cultural beauty waiting to be discovered. The adventure begins when you board our high-speed boat and embark on the most exciting discovery of the Cozumel Reef National Park, part of the largest barrier reef in Mesoamerica and considered one of the best places to snorkel in the entire Caribbean. Along the beautiful south shores of Cozumel, your professional crew will seek out the best sites for you to enjoy a first-class snorkeling experience. Explore the beautiful coral reef home to exoctic marine life and colorful tropical fish. One of these reefs, named El Cielo meaning “heaven” in Spanish, is a famous and protected area recognized for the large number of starfish that inhabit it. After the activities we’ll head to shallower waters and a sandy beach for a light snack and refreshments before heading back to the city of San Miguel de Cozumel.

    Too short

Everything about the trip was great ie people, food, guides, boat rides etc except snorkelling part was way too short. Picked up at 5:45 am and returned by 4 pm so 10 hours but only got just over 1 hour of snorkelling time and 1 hour of eating time. Not worth it. Stopped for 15 min at 1 spot, 20 min at second spot and 35 min at 3rd spot. It advertised it as 4 hours plus ferry and transportation and the air Transat guide said we would get 3 hours of snorkelling but that did not happen. It was very disappointing.

Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the team, the food, and the overall experience, but we’re truly sorry to know the snorkeling time didn’t meet your expectations. Snorkeling time can sometimes vary depending on sea conditions, navigation times, and the group’s safety in the water, but we completely understand how this may have felt shorter than anticipated. Your comments are very valuable and help us continue improving the experience we offer. We appreciate you sharing your perspective and hope we may have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.

    Fun and Professional Team!

Our trip was Sunday February 22, 2026. They were on time for the hotel pickup at the Hilton Cancun Mar Terible. Overall, a great experience. I honestly don't remember the names of my tour operators except Sebastian. From beginning to end, very well coordinated and timely. They know what they are doing and did it professionally. I appreciated that they addressed about every question on this experience. They were great guys, fun, funny, and knowledgeable. They took great effort to make sure we all stuck together and were safe. While in the water, they even would dive down (~20ft) to point out stuff and that was cool because that's not easy to do with a life preserver-belt on. It was cool to see stingrays, lobster, queen angel fish, a sea turtle and a shark while snorkeling. It was cool they played music on the ride out to the reefs, that helped amp up my experience. The lunch was okay. Thank you for bringing beer, that was unexpected! Loved it...i drink only water, coffee and beer so anything else is wasted on me...much appreciated them for this...I thought the website said "no beer provided." Only areas of improvement for them: 1. Lunch. So, on our trip there was a woman who requested vegetarian options and that seemed to screw up some of the other lunches. We all sat 2 to a bench and were given a bento box to share that had two small sandwiches and fresh fruit. I and my son shared a bento box but my spouse and other son got half a bento box. The woman who requested vegetarian got a whole bento box w/two sandwiches for herself but that shorted my wife and son. I surrendered half my sandwich for her and him and that was okay, but still not right. 2. Time management while at the snorkeling sites. First reef was about 20-30feet deep. The guides prepped us mentally, noting this was for stronger swimmers and the big orange life vest would not be allowed...we'd have to wear the less-buoyant belt. That was okay for me, but there were half a dozen folks too scared to do it after this dire warning - including my wife and both boys. We spent about 30 minutes here and then got in boat to go to where the starfish were....where we spent less than 10 minutes. My family was kinda disappointed to have so little time in the water. Had the first reef been shallower or the "prep talk" been more joyful and fun...maybe they'd have done better?? Honestly, it's up to each person's comfort level and I loved it, they did not. 3. Pictures!? Sebastian was in the water taking pictures and ostensibly these were going to be shared and/or purchased...never saw anything about this...no clue where my pictures are or went to ...lol I would tour with them again for sure. Just remember the logistics that go into these trips/tours though...if it's 4 hours and the dock's 45 min one way, a 40+min ferry ride to cozumel, hotel pickups, 40+min boat ride to the reefs....you're not getting much time in the water big picture. Ensure you waste no time getting in the water and enjoying this. There were always people around and in the water with you, no worries on having an incident. Sorry, my wife took the pictures with her smartphone and uses that crappy .HEIC format and I don't have 40 extra min to convert each one.

Response from the operator: Hello! 🌊🐠 Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your experience. We’re really glad to hear you had a great time overall and that Sebastian and the team helped make the day fun, organized, and safe from start to finish 🙌✨ Spotting rays, turtles, lobster, and even a shark while snorkeling sounds like an unforgettable outing! We also appreciate your thoughtful feedback regarding the lunch distribution, time at the snorkeling spots, and the photos. Comments like yours are very helpful and will certainly be shared with our team so we can continue improving the experience for future guests. It means a lot to hear that you would tour with us again — that’s the best compliment we can receive! Thanks again for spending the day with us and for the helpful tips you shared with future adventurers 😊

Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.

How much does Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.

Is Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 129 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch?

    +

Around 45 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cozumel Starfish and Tropical Reef Snorkeling by Powerboat with Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cozumel?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
