What you get
About this experience
We will begin by preparing some delicious salsas, followed by an authentic and traditional Mexican mole, tasty enmoladas, and mexican rice. You'll be educated on the ingredients, tell you about the culinary and nutritional values, and how to prepare and cook each part of the meal. We are always vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free friendly if that is an interest. We will discuss the history and cultural importance of the Mole and how it used to be the “Food of the Emperors”, reserved only for the upper class of the Mayan and Aztec society. During the lesson you will be enticed to explore your environment: the cozy den with its fireplace and library; and the surrounding courtyard with its organic gardens and gorgeous landscapes. Having prepared the delicious meal, we will sit down and dine, engaging in wonderful conversation. As welcome we will enjoy a pure cacao chocolate drink and plenty of delicious Mexican wine at all time. All while surrounded by a beautiful and tranquil environment.

Great local cooking experience
As no one else signed up for the class the evening that we took it, we had a private cooking experience with Chef Miguel! He taught us about the importance of chocolate to Mexican culture and to mole traditions while we sipped chocolate beverages and Mexican wine before we jumped into making salsas, mole, and delicious enmoladas. Would recommend to anyone who's interested in food, culture, and cooking.

Enjoyable cooking class in an amazing setting!
It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but when you step through you immediately, see an inviting courtyard with beautiful gardens. We were given a chocolate drink and invited to walk around and look at the place. Miguel, the chef, told us all about the plants and how they are used in cooking. The class was great! The large kitchen was open and perfect for a cooking class. We learned to make two types of salsas and mole. Miguel was patient, energetic, informative, and very organized. He encouraged us to “Cook with Love.” Then we sat down and ate our delicious meal. Miguel did not rush us out, but took time to let us enjoy the gardens and courtyards. We even got to pet two sweet dogs. I would highly recommend this cooking class! It was one of the highlights of our trip to San Miguel.

A+++++ Experience.
This was a memorable experience. Miguel was fantastic, entertaining and knowledgeable. As someone that cooks at home often i learned many new techniques that I will incorporate into my home cooking. The estate this takes place is worth it. Just a storied estate with many interactive experiences.

Perfect way to spend an afternoon learning appreciation for a traditional Mexican dish
Absolute must do experience when visiting. The food was fantastic and Miguel was so delightful, patient and informative. I have a new understanding of the preparation of mole and a higher respect for the process. Perfect for beginners. Also the property is stunning

Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Miguel de Allende.
How much does Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende cost?
+
Prices start at $207 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Miguel de Allende usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Miguel de Allende is not rushed.
Is Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 121 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Miguel de Allende, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende?
+
Around 42 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Miguel de Allende can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Miguel de Allende and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cook & Dine | Make Authentic Mexican Mole and Salsas in San Miguel de Allende start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Miguel de Allende within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Miguel de Allende?
+
On Outty we rank every San Miguel de Allende experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tacos and Tequila Walking Tour with Taste of Miguel, Half Day Excursion - Horseback Riding Adventure in SMA, Historical and Cultural Walking Tour of San Miguel de Allende. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Miguel de Allende?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Miguel de Allende?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
