The day begins with a nice breakfast buffet to prepare for the needed energy for the days activities. After that it will be water activities all day. We start the tour with the warm pools that have been etched onto the mountain side, later proceeding down to the turquoise thermal river for a relaxing lunch along its banks. After lunch, we will jump in to the warm waters of the river before transitioning to the glorious waterfalls and caves. Before entering the caves, we will admire the view of the waterfalls that guard the natural caves we will be exploring. In the caves we will use our lamps to walk through the warm waters extruding from within, explore the interior waterfalls, and observe the origin point of the waters that give Tolantongo it's name. Tolantongo, meaning "place of warm moving water," will prove to give you an experience in Mexico unlike any other. (River and cave exploration are contingent on good weather in days prior to allow for an optimal experience).

    Worth the drive.

This was a long drive from SMA but it was completely worth it. It was beautiful and so fun. The cliff side pools were great but the highlight were the caves. Nothing like it. Highly recommend.

    Tolantongo is a must-see if you’re visiting Mexico! 🇲🇽✨

Eduardo and Jair were extremely helpful in helping us book this last-minute trip and were so accommodating throughout the entire experience. Jair was an amazing tour guide! He explained our full-day itinerary, was incredibly knowledgeable, and was such a joy to spend the day with. The all-inclusive breakfast was delicious, the car ride was comfortable, and he even provided a charging bank for us to use. When we arrived at Tolantongo, Jair gave us plenty of time to relax and unwind. He also provided us with a backpack, waterproof phone case, towel, and other supplies, which made the experience even more convenient. Tolantongo itself is absolutely beautiful! Jair took us into the caves and thermal pools, and we had such an amazing adventure. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch, and on the way home, he provided us with snacks and drinks. Everything was thoughtfully planned, and we truly felt taken care of from beginning to end. 10/10 tour! Highly recommend booking with Eduardo and Jair if you’re visiting Tolantongo! 🙌🏽💯

    So worth it!!

If you’re used to roadtrips the drive isn’t bad at all, you can sleep on the way over lol. It was all so worth it though, after picking up our other guests we had breakfast and headed over to Tolantongo. We felt so relaxed in the little pools we didn’t want to leave but being able to see the caves and waterfalls was so so worth it. This whole experience was awesome, thanks to our guide Israel who is super knowledgeable and very friendly! I highly recommend!

    Amazing!

The long car ride is worth the amazing experience. The entire day is planned out so you don’t have to think about anything! Our tour guide Israel [Tenshi] and his driver were amazing and knowledgeable in every aspect of Mexican culture. We learned so much and experienced everything I wanted to get out of this trip and more!

    Amazing Tolantongo Day

This was an amazing adventure to Tolantongo. It was a long day from San Miguel but totally worth it. We had a great tour guide who took us to Tolantongo. We had plenty of time in the baths. He also procured lunch for a riverside picnic. He took us to the caves and we had time to relax in the river. This is a must do when in the area.

Is Full Day Tour in Tolantongo from San Miguel Allende worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 144 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Miguel de Allende, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Full Day Tour in Tolantongo from San Miguel Allende suitable for kids and families?

    +

Around 50 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Miguel de Allende can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Miguel de Allende and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Miguel de Allende?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Miguel de Allende?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
