What you'll see and do
Fisher Towers
The Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River is heavy on scenery, with some fun rapids (depending on the water level/time of year). This is an area where many motion pictures and commercials have been filmed over the years. John Wayne and John Ford filmed a lot of old westerns in this area. Most recently filmed in this area was The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp & Armie Hammer (2013). For this tour you will need to meet at our office (unless a hotel/campground pick up has been arranged). At 378 North Main St. (right next door to the Comfort Suites). From out office we will transport you up Hwy 128 (Top 10 most scenic highways in America) to Rocky Rapid (about mile 17). This will take 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic and other circumstances. Once at Rocky Rapid, your guide will go over some river safety instructions, once everything has been covered you will board the raft. Unless you have requested a paddle boat, your guide will be doing all the rowing, so you get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. As you make your way down the river to Take-Out Beach, and your departure point for the Afternoon Half Day tour, your guide will provide you with archeology, geology, and river history. Your guide will also point out various land marks and answer any questions you may have on your journey. Once the raft reaches the take out point at Take-Out Beach, you will disembark from the raft. The guides will then need to load the boats and equipment back up on the trailer, then you will be able to load back up on our shuttle vehicle, and we will bring you back to our office in Moab, concluding your adventure. The drive back from Take-Out Beach could take 30 or more minutes. This is a calm water trip, with small rapids, class 1 & 2. Depending on water levels there is the chance for a class 3 rapid on this section. The rafts are set up where the guide will be doing all the rowing. Paddle boats (where everyone paddles) are an option upon request (24 hour advance notice required).

Awesome rafting experience with Sam!
The half day rafting trip was great! Very well organized with comfortable transportation to and from the drop off points. Sam, our guide, could not have been any better! He pointed out interesting facts along the way, offered us several opportunities to swim and cool off, and was just a friendly guy! The experience was well worth the cost and would go again in an instant.

Afternoon rafting
We actually did a full day event which started with a morning 4X4 Jeep ride through Canyonlands. We got back to the Adrift Adventure center and were quickly moved to meet our river guide and get fitted with life vests and loaded onto the bus. There was no time for a bathroom break. The owner is all business and very task-oriented; he definitely keeps the process moving and you can tell he has high expectations of his staff. We had two rafts going our and Sam and Evans were our guides. There was a 1/2 hour bus ride to get onto the river. The guides gave directions and let us know what to expect every step of the way. We briefly got on the river and pulled over for lunch. Again, the guides were on their game and got lunch set up and served (Deli.sandwiches, fruit, salads and cookies). It was a hot day and we were all ready to get back on the water quickly but there was no rush. Evans was our guide and he was engaging with all of the guests. There were 3 separate parties on the raft and we were all very comfortable with him and each other by the end. The water is low so it isn't a a fast ride. The wind was blowing upstream quite hard and Evans had to work hard to row and navigate the raft. There were 5-8 mild rapids along the way.. I'm glad we did it but I was ready to be done by the time we got there. I'm most impressed with how hard the guides worked and kept a great attitude throughout the entire trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the kind review...will make sure time is allocated for those bathroom breaks! Evans and Sam are oustanding guides as they had their hands full with the upstream winds.

Relaxing trip after hiking Arches day before
Glorious 1/2 day on the Colorado River. The guides were fantastic and really worked hard to make a nice, relaxing trip. Our guide, Evans was professional, friendly and has a great temperament for this kind of work. Extremely pleasant!

Fun on the Colorado
I would have liked a bit stronger rapids, but we knew it would be fairly calm. They were honest about that. Otherwise, we had lots of fun. Our guide was very knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the river and the surrounding terrain. The lunch was great.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the review. Have a great vacation!

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moab.
How much does Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers cost?
+
Prices start at $107 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moab usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moab is not rushed.
Is Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 157 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moab, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers?
+
Around 55 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moab can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moab and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Colorado River Rafting: Afternoon Half-Day at Fisher Towers start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moab within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moab?
+
Moab is the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands: sunrise arch tours, 4x4 runs on Hell's Revenge, Colorado River rafting, canyoneering and dark-sky stargazing. Park entry timing systems change often, so we weight tours that handle reservations for you. On Outty we rank every Moab experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HIGHLY RATED U-DRIVE Moab Hell’s Revenge UTV Off-Road Adventure, BEST! Hell's Revenge U-Drive 4X4 Tour in Moab +Dinosaur Tracks!, 5-STAR Moab Hell's Revenge UTV U-DRIVE TOUR + DINO TRACKS. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moab?
+
April to May and September to October, avoiding peak summer heat. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moab?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
