About this experience
Castle Valley is the poster child for Western landscapes, and you’ve probably already seen it somewhere in a John Wayne movie, TV show, or a commercial or two. And if somehow you have, in fact, never laid eyes on Castle Valley before, you’re not going forget it once you do! This serene section of the Colorado River moseys through a big beautiful valley lined with monuments. Along the way are some of Utah’s most impressive geologic features like Fisher Towers, Castleton Tower, the Priest and Nuns, and more. As for the waters here along the Colorado River, it stays pretty warm from late spring to early fall. You’ll spend 2 hours of your time floating, with a few Class II rapids to cool you off along the way. Expect plenty of fascinating interpretations and fun stories from your river guide on this mild trip!

Family (6 and 9 year olds) half day float
We enjoyed the half day float (with some swimming!) along the Colorado River and would gladly return for another. Our 6 and 9 year olds loved sitting at the front of the boat watching out for rocks and taking in the scenery. The staff and our guide were great as well.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re so glad your family enjoyed the half-day float, refreshing swims, and beautiful Colorado River scenery. It sounds like your 6- and 9-year-olds made the most of their front-row seats! We’ll be sure to share your kind words with our staff and guide. We’d be delighted to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure with Mild to Wild!

Go for the full day!
We had a great experience with M2W. Zach was our guide and he was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the landscape and the way the river flows. We had an awesome time. I wasn’t sure if my kids would enjoy rafting, but they were bummed we only signed up for the half day. Full day experience next time! Thanks Zach!

Our guide Kaia and driver Chris did an excellent job. Fun going through the 1 and 2 rapids. Got to see an eagles nest that houses 6 bald eagles. She was very knowledgeable about the area. Would definitely do it again.

Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moab.
How much does Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moab usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moab is not rushed.
Is Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 550 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Moab, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River?
+
Around 193 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moab can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moab and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Moab Morning Half Day Rafting Trip - Colorado River start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moab within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moab?
+
Moab is the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands: sunrise arch tours, 4x4 runs on Hell's Revenge, Colorado River rafting, canyoneering and dark-sky stargazing. Park entry timing systems change often, so we weight tours that handle reservations for you. On Outty we rank every Moab experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HIGHLY RATED U-DRIVE Moab Hell’s Revenge UTV Off-Road Adventure, BEST! Hell's Revenge U-Drive 4X4 Tour in Moab +Dinosaur Tracks!, 5-STAR Moab Hell's Revenge UTV U-DRIVE TOUR + DINO TRACKS. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moab?
+
April to May and September to October, avoiding peak summer heat. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moab?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
