    Guide was personable but...

Guide was personable but was basically a driver, not tour guide, offering little commentary. He was late for pickup with no apology. Itinerary didn’t match what was advertised, leaving out the national museum and adding some shopping sites. The mosque was already closed for the day when we arrived. I was able to see much of Colombo with all the driving around, but with little commentary to explain what I was seeing.

    Disaster Colombo City Tour

Driver was 2 hours late. Viator blaming Tour Company and Tour Company blaming Viator. They charged me £172.00 for a half baked tour. I booked it early as we had a wedding event in the evening. F I had not contacted Viator we could have been sitting all day in the lobby. Then we get a car come but then half way they decide to change drivers so that was another half hour wasted. No water was provided on the trip and there were tiny flies in the car. Overall experience was very bad will never use this company again. We used Bentota Travel Mart and they were amazing we had one driver for 3 days and he was excellent car was very clean aircon was in very good working order. Please do not book this tour.

Response from the operator: We accept that there was a 30-minute delay, but not a 2-hour delay as mentioned. We informed the client in advance about the 30-minute delay, and the client accepted it. To ensure their comfort, we arranged a larger vehicle at no additional cost. The driver change did not take any extra 30 minutes, as claimed. Regarding the expressway entrance, due to standard access procedures, we had to use the normal road, which usually takes around 30 minutes. We also provided an experienced tour driver to ensure a smooth and safe journey. The main issue arose when the client requested to do only a half-day tour because they needed to attend a wedding function in the evening. They then asked for a 50% refund for the unused half day. However, we had already allocated a vehicle and driver for the full day, so a refund is not applicable. We always aim to provide our services without time limitations and with full professionalism. Therefore, we cannot agree with the client’s claims in their review, as the situation was not caused by our service

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.

Is Colombo City Tour And Private Guided worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (1.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Colombo City Tour And Private Guided?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Colombo City Tour And Private Guided suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Colombo City Tour And Private Guided?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Colombo City Tour And Private Guided start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Colombo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Colombo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Colombo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
