There are FAR better options! I would not recommend Cozumel Snorkel Center

I rarely leave reviews, especially negative ones, but after 30+ tours across Cozumel, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen, this was by far the worst experience I've had. The positives first: The reef and marine life are genuinely great, and our in-water guide, Simon, was excellent. He is very attentive, safety-conscious, and went out of his way to help our 5-year-old daughter when she struggled, even getting her a ring raft. Credit where it's due. But that's where the positives end. Unsafe boat driving: Captain Marco repeatedly ran the boat at near-full throttle, slamming into wakes head-on instead of slowing or angling through them like he is supposed to. You could feel the impacts from your seat through your back and into your jaw each time. He showed no added caution despite knowing a 5-year-old was on board. Unclear age/difficulty rating: The website lists this tour as "easy" for ages 5+, with no mention of required swimming ability. My daughter is not new to swimming, but this was definitely too much for her. As a parent, I could not recommend this to any other parent wanting to bring a younger child who does not have advanced swimming skills and/or is used to the ocean water. Even a teenager on our trip had to rest on the boat from exhaustion, and another parent said she was struggling too. My daughter got repeatedly hit with waves and was getting salt water in her eyes and mouth. It became overwhelming at one point she even starting crying a little. But once you're out there in the water... you are out there until the guide brings everyone back. It was A LOT for a 5-year old. I'm not holding the company responsible for her age or that it was too much for her. This still could have been a good tour/trip. I only mention this so other parents have information that their website doesn't provide. Extremely Unprofessional Photographer: Gerson, the tour photographer, pushed us repeatedly to take photos that he obviously just wanted to sell to us later, even while I was consoling my crying daughter. Obviously, trying to pose for a photo with my crying 5 year old who was overwhelmed was not at all a priority. Then there was a part of the tour when a turtle was swimming towards me underwater. The photographer Gerson, who I was already annoyed with, said he (in Spanish - my 2nd language) not to move my feet. What I heard was "MOVE your feet." However, all I actually did was slowly lifted my legs, bending at my knees, and the turtle's shell lightly grazed my calf as it passed. Even if I did not move AT ALL, the turtle would still have grazed my thigh instead of my calf. Gerson then inaccurately accused me loudly, in front of the group, of kicking the turtle and causing the turtle to go away. We did get into a back and forth because he was wrong and would not take accountability. No one else in the water backed his version, and he never apologized. Most serious issue. safety failure with my child: At a stop meant for cruise ship passengers, there was confusion about who should disembark. I briefly took my daughter onto the dock, then had to bring her back onto the boat after being told it was private... with her life jacket already off. Then, before we took off again, she got seasick and needed to throw up. While I was tending to her, with her life jacket still off, the captain took off at speed without checking that everyone was secured. My daughter was still puking and without a life jacket while the boat accelerated. This should never have happened. This tour had the potential to be great, but poor management, unsafe boat handling, and disrespectful staff ruined it. I would not recommend booking with Cozumel Snorkel Center, especially if Marco or Gerson are involved. I'd suggest Cozumel Catamaran instead for a far more professional, safety-conscious experience. Management Alex Martin had been contacted during the tour, but it was very clear that he had no intention on seeking any kind of resolution. I would not recommend this tour to anyone unless they could be 100% sure that Marco and Gerson are not on board with you.

Response from the operator: We take any allegation regarding safety and the treatment of marine life very seriously, which is why we feel it is important to respond and clarify what occurred during this tour. Unfortunately, several statements in this review do not reflect what our crew witnessed that day. Regarding the turtle encounter, our photographer asked the guest not to move his feet as the turtle approached. Despite this instruction, the guest made contact with the turtle in the head area with his foot. Our staff immediately addressed the situation because protecting Cozumel’s marine life is extremely important to us. The disagreement that followed began after our team pointed this out. We understand that there may have been a misunderstanding due to language, but we cannot agree with the version presented in this review. It is also important to mention that the rest of the passengers continued enjoying the excursion, and we did not receive similar complaints from the other guests onboard. From our crew’s perspective, the reviewer was the only person who became extremely upset during the tour. His wife and daughter also appeared to enjoy significant portions of the experience, particularly with the assistance provided by Simon, whom the reviewer himself recognizes as attentive and safety-conscious. Regarding the child, our team provided additional assistance when she needed it, including flotation support and individual attention. Ocean snorkeling conditions can vary from day to day, and children of the same age can have very different levels of comfort and swimming ability. We appreciate the reviewer sharing that perspective for other parents. We also strongly dispute the suggestion that our captain intentionally operated the vessel in an unsafe manner. Passenger safety is a priority for our company, and our captains are experienced in navigating Cozumel waters. Nevertheless, any specific concern regarding vessel operation is something we review seriously with our crew. Management was contacted during the excursion and was aware of the situation. However, seeking a resolution does not mean that we can agree with accusations when the account provided by our staff and the circumstances witnessed onboard are materially different from those presented in this review. We regret that this guest left unhappy, but we stand behind our crew while also taking legitimate safety concerns seriously. We will continue working to provide safe and enjoyable experiences for our guests while respecting and protecting the extraordinary marine life of Cozumel. — Management Cozumel Snorkel Center

    Snorkeling in Cozumel

We picked this tour because it said it was going to multiple areas for snorkeling and they delivered. We did see star fish, fish, turtle and stingray. We also got pictures of us swimming with the different fish at each spot (for a sperate cost) but we have these memories to go to in the future. The guides where great and very attentive to the fact that my wife is not a swimmer but with the lifejacket she feels safe enough to go in the ocean reluctantly. They stayed beside her at all times making sure she was ok and tug her along. We have a nice memory thanks to their help and pictures. I would recommend them to anybody. We had our own gear but they do supply what you need.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that our tour met your expectations and that you were able to experience so much incredible marine life, including starfish, fish, turtles, and stingrays. It means a lot to know that our guides made your wife feel safe and comfortable throughout the snorkeling experience. Our team is committed to ensuring that every guest, regardless of their swimming ability, can enjoy the beauty of the ocean with confidence. We're also happy you chose to take home photos of these special moments—they truly are memories to cherish for years to come. Thank you for your kind recommendation and for trusting us with your adventure. We hope to welcome you both back for another unforgettable snorkeling trip in Cozumel!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Snorkelling Trip in Cozumel!

We were a group of six visiting from our cruise and had an absolutely fantastic day with Mr Pork Chop, Baby Turtle and the whole crew at Cozumel Snorkel Centre. Unfortunately, the weather meant we couldn’t visit the turtle sanctuary as planned, but the team adapted the trip brilliantly and made sure we still had an amazing experience. We visited three different snorkelling sites, each offering great opportunities to see marine life and enjoy the beautiful waters around Cozumel. The fresh lunch provided was delicious, and the rum punch, music, and fun atmosphere really made the day extra special. The crew were friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do, making everyone feel welcome and looked after. This was one of the highlights of our cruise and something all six of us thoroughly enjoyed. We would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Cozumel!

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you very much for sharing your comments. It’s a pleasure to hear from you, and we’re thrilled that you had such a great time with our wonderful team. We’re here to serve you, and we hope you have the best time possible. Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a great time. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards,

Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cozumel.

How much does Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $66 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cozumel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cozumel is not rushed.

Is Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 83 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cozumel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour?

    +

Around 29 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cozumel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cozumel and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Colombia, Palancar & Cielo Cozumel Snorkel Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cozumel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cozumel?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cozumel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jade Caverns and Mayan Village Cozumel ATV TOUR, Buggy, Beach & Snorkel Blast, ATV 4×4+Cenote+Snorkeling+Beach Club+ Lunch+Sabores de Cozumel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cozumel?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
