    • Air-conditioned, fully insured and licensed legal vehicle with professional English-speaking Driver
    • Pickup Cruise Port: Your Driver will be waiting for you right outside the ship, holding a sign with your name on to be easily recognized
    • In Rome Vans are better than Buses: Van = up to 8 seats, Bus = from 9 to 50 seats. Note that Buses are not allow in the historical areas of Rome (official ship excursions from Cruise Companies are operated with Buses). This mean that the Bus will drop you off and you will walk for the entire duration of the tour (6/7 hours) to the other side of town at the end of the tour to be picked up. Best Viator’s Rome excursions are with private Vans. Bus in Rome has only a small number of authorized spaces dedicated to pickup/dropoff travellers so, usually, during the city tour you had to walk for about 4/6 miles. In a big group chance are that you'll have to wait much longer for people lingering at the sights and stand in line longer for the toilets or at the snack counter. You will also have much less one on one time with your driver and guide or time to ask questions, because you'll have to share them with a lot more people.
    • Vans and their drivers will be at your complete disposal for the entire duration of the tour and can take you and stop where Buses cannot go, very close to all attractions, you will walk definitely less and see more!
    • Our fleet is comprised of Mercedes, Volkswagen, Ford, FCA, Sedans, MPVs and Vans. Many Italian cities have restricted the areas where certain vehicles can circulate, so in order to offer you the best service possible and to let you reach your destination as comfortably as possible, we will arrange your vehicle accordingly
    • Above 8 passengers please make multiple bookings and we will provide the service either with multiple Vans/SUVs, according to our availability and local regulations. The multiple vehicles will make the tour together with the same stops. The Guests can switch as they prefer in the available vehicles

    Romes best in a day

We can't say enough about this excursion. We had a lot to do in one day but our guide did it effortlessly. We initially had reservations about getting back to our ship on time considering the distance from port to downtown Rome. But our guide and driver were fantastic. The driver negotiated the streets of Rome with ease. Our guide made sure the pace was just right to show everything on our itinerary. Lunch was absolutely fantastic and an unexpected surprise. This was on of the best excursions we have ever been on. It started at the Colosseum and continued through to the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, the Sistine chapel and St. Peters Basilica. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. The value of this excursion vs. others made this an investment more than an expense. We highly recommend to anyone visiting Civitavecchia to give this tour a try.

Response from the operator: Wow, thank you so much for your amazing review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a great time on the excursion and that everything went smoothly, especially with your tight schedule. It’s great to know that our guide and driver helped make the day stress-free and enjoyable — and that lunch was a pleasant surprise too! We really appreciate you recommending the tour to others and calling it one of the best you’ve ever been on — that truly means a lot to us. Hope to see you again on your next visit!

    Best Day in Rome

WORTH EVERY DOLLAR!!! We literally saw everything in Rome in one day. My family of 6 (4 Adults, 2 Kids) was greeted at the literal doors of the cruise terminal by a private driver in a very nice, clean Mercedes van filled with cold bottles of water. Since we were picked up at the cruise terminal, we beat out all the other groups and large touring buses (1hr drive to Rome from Port). We arrived at the Pantheon to meet our personal tour guide who stayed with us all day, knew everything about everything, and interacted with all of our party. Since he already secured tickets for us, we got to skip-the-line on everything. NO WAITING. We personally toured the following places: Pantheon, Trevi Fountains, Spanish Steps, Colosseum (2hrs), Vatican City (2hrs), St. Peters Basilica, and St. Peter's square. The driver also took us by a multitude of other places like the Roman Forum, Cesar Palace, and many more. After visiting the Colosseum and before the Vatican City, we were taken for about an 1hr to eat at this beautiful restaurant near the Roman Forum. We were given appetizers, two different pasta dishes, and dessert. We ended this tour where we began, by being dropped off a the doors of the cruise terminal. No long distance walking, no being drop off at some random area surrounded by venders. I can not stress how wonderful this tour was. We literally saw everything in Rome in 1 day. Since we had our own private van, driver, tour guide, and the skip-the-line tickets, we were able to do Rome at our pace. Some areas we spent more time, some less time, and others, simply driving by. If you only have 1 day in Rome and you want to literally see every thing, you must book this tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Jeffrey and family, Grazie mille for this beautiful and detailed review! We are so glad to know that you enjoyed our tour in Rome. Looking forward to meet you ance again! All the best. Drita

Response from the operator: Dear David and family, Wow... What an amazing review!!! It is more than a review, it is a very warm compliment for our company! We cannot thank you enough and will always remember you with great pleasure! GRAZIE Drita

Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lake Bracciano.

How much does Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican cost?

    +

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lake Bracciano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lake Bracciano is not rushed.

Is Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lake Bracciano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Bracciano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Bracciano and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Civitavecchia Port Shore Excursion: Rome with Colosseum & Vatican start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lake Bracciano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lake Bracciano?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lake Bracciano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Civitavecchia Shore Excursion: Best of Rome Private Tour, Food Tasty and History Tour in Civitavecchia, VIP Tour of Rome (3/5/8hrs) Colosseum & Vatican Museums. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lake Bracciano?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lake Bracciano?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
