Poor value
Very poor did not give much information about Madeira at all. tmTook you a small circle around Funchal and that was your tour . Poor value for money. Will not do this again.

Take a bus and have a walking tour as well
Did the essential 48h tour, the iconic is only 24h which I assume is targeted for the cruise liners that come to Funchal for a day.. the essentials extras include the blue line and two different walking tours of Funchal at 11am and 1pm.. Well worth the effort as their current walking tour guide Pedro was very knowledgeable and friendly.. They also have a night bus at 9:30pm that gives a tour of Funchal at dark that is valid with the essential tour ticket . Red line does a circuit of Funchal and visits the picturesque Camara de Lobo's (try a "Nikita" at the Pestana Churchill if you stop for a visit) it's a hop on and hopoff bus so perhaps maybe a shop at the Forum as well? The blue line is an extra with the essential tour ticket that takes you to Monte and has a stop near the famous sledges end if you slide down the road from the top . For a couple of euros extra, the VALUE ticket includes everything the essential has plus entrance to the CR7 museum and a few more discounts

Bus trip
We brought 48 hr ticket to do red and blue lines . Took you up to high point for views down to sea where you can get off to take photos have a drink walk around small gardens . We next got off at Camara De Lobos which is lovely fishing village had lunch here very pretty. We got off by shops on way back too. Blue line takes you to monte by the gardens and start of toboggan rides . Only downside was there is no timetable on bus stops so had a long wait (50mins) for bus after got off toboggan ride .In end got on local bus back to harbour beat the bus ! €29 pp for 48 pass . Local bus ticket €2:10

Rubbish
This was the worst bus tour I have taken. The audio guide was sparse and didn't relate to what we were seeing and the red route was terrible and took you to the worst bits of the centre of Funchal which is a shame as when you walked around it was great. We opted to get off rather than do the full circle as it was so bad.

Why this scores 51
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $31 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 285 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour?
+
Around 100 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 1.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does City Sightseeing Funchal Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
