Beautiful place, terrible transport
The portion of this tour that was based in Chitwan at the Safari Adventure Lodge was excellent. The food and services were top notch and the opportunity to see so much wildlife including several rhinos and a large male wild elephant was great. That said, the transportation was awful. On the way I was squashed into the back seat of a public tour bus with very little leg room. I’m not tall but my knees were pressed against the back of the seat in front. The return journey was better as I wasn’t on the back seat but I was left on the side of the road and needed to call the office for them to agree to provide a taxi. It was pretty clear I was about to be scammed as there were vast numbers of people trying to get me into their “taxi” While Chitwan is amazing, I can’t recommend this tour
Response from the operator: Dear Paul, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are so pleased to hear that your time at the Safari Adventure Lodge was excellent and that you had such successful wildlife sightings—seeing a large male elephant and several rhinos is truly a highlight of the Chitwan experience! We sincerely regret, however, that the transportation aspects of the trip left you feeling frustrated. We would like to provide some context regarding the points you raised: Schedule Flexibility: We were more than happy to accommodate your request to move your booking from January 4th to February 4th. We always aim to be flexible to ensure our guests can still enjoy their adventure despite changing plans. The Bus Journey: We understand that the seating on public tourist buses can be quite tight, especially in the rear. While these are standard vehicles for the route, we hear your concerns about the legroom and will take this into account when reviewing our transport partners. The Return Journey & Taxi: We would like to clarify that, for the return, all tour travelers were dropped off at the same designated central location. While it can certainly feel chaotic with local drivers approaching arrivals, the company covered the full cost of your taxi to ensure you reached your final destination safely. Our office coordinated this immediately upon your call to ensure you weren't left to navigate those "scams" or pay out of pocket. We aim to provide a seamless experience from start to finish, and it’s clear that the transition from the bus to the taxi felt stressful for you. We will work on making this hand-off much smoother for future guests.

Chitwan Jungle Safari: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does Chitwan Jungle Safari cost?
+
Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Chitwan Jungle Safari take?
+
Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is Chitwan Jungle Safari worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Chitwan Jungle Safari?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Chitwan Jungle Safari suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Chitwan Jungle Safari?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Chitwan Jungle Safari start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kathmandu Sightseeing | UNESCO World Heritage sites Private/Group, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek: Private Group & Discounte Price. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Chitwan Jungle Safari?
+
Included: English speaking nature guide during the tour; Dinner; All Fees and Taxes; Breakfast; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: Alcoholic beverages; Bottled water; and Tipping. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
What languages is Chitwan Jungle Safari offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Chitwan Jungle Safari?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.
Is Chitwan Jungle Safari wheelchair or stroller accessible?
+
The operator notes: Not recommended for pregnant travelers; Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller; and Specialized infant seats are available. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.
