Recommend +++
Martin was a wonderful guide. He points out specific fish when he sees them and we saw lots of colorful fish. Was a relaxed tour and not stressful at all. We dId not have to stay "in a line" and "follow the leader". We were able to explore in the general vicinity before moving on. He also takes GoPro photos which is included in the price. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Snorkelling Experience 🐢
We had a fantastic experience snorkeling with turtles in Akumal with Martin! 🐢 He is a great guide who took very good care of us throughout the experience. He was always on the lookout for turtles and we managed to see atleast 5-6 of them from close while still respecting their space. We also saw many interesting fish and a barracuda from distance! And Martin gave us some fun facts about them throughout while taking some great photos which he delivered by the end of the day!

Cenote Snorkeling
Great activity 💯 I was all alone and Martin came to pick me up on a motorbike, a short trip to get to the Cenote...Martin was very attentive and made me discover a lot of things about the account and its access to the sea... magnificent fish and as the activity is early in the morning this avoids all the hordes of tourists. I recommend without hesitation!! In addition, he takes photos which he sends at no additional cost. It's the little extra 👍

DO THIS TOUR! You won’t regret it…
We came back to Akumal for this tour after we had done the other one that Martin is offering (swimming with turtles in Akumal Bay) because we liked it so much and thought this would be a fun way to also see a Cenote. And we were proven right… What is special about this tour is that you get to see how fresh water from a Cenote runs into the salt water of the ocean and also how mangrove trees underwater provide a safe space for a lot of tropical fish 🐠… the “Doris” (from Nemo) are huge in Yal-Ku - much bigger than the ones we saw in the bay - and we saw a ton of parrot fish and others as well… it was truly a unique experience to see underwater how the different ecosystems were connected. In some parts the visibility was a bit blurry because the fresh and sea water mixed but once we saw this we just went to a different spot and then enjoyed the tropical fish a little further! In comparison to the experience in the bay it was a calmer (no waves) and for someone without any snorkeling experience an excellent area to start! What we also liked was that the water temperature was a little lower (than in the bay) where the fresh water was, which was a welcomed experience especially in the summer’s heat! We also saw way more tropical fish (but no turtles of course) and were able to explore the ecosystems underwater! At Yal-Ku a swim vest was not mandatory but we used one anyways because it allowed us to calmly float among the fish without disturbing them by paddling around… I would not have wanted to miss this and hope that everyone will be able to keep enjoying both tours in the future. The both snorkeling with the sea turtles in Akumal bay and snorkeling with tropical fish are unique and I highly recommend doing both tours. Martin was an excellent guide once again, taught us a lot about the ecosystems, life underwater, how to protect it and ourselves and once again provided us with beautiful FREE photos after the tour! Both tours were the BEST experience of our 3-week trip across Yucatan… Thank you so much for showing travelers like us the beauty of Akumal in all its variety and we hope that Akumal is able to protect this unique place with the help of responsible and interested visitors…

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish cost?
+
Prices start at $700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cenote; Snorkeling and Photos with Colorful Fish start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
