Beautiful day on the Berlenga island
We had a nice excursion to Berlenga. After arriving on the island we immediately walked to the fort. This was a tough trip, but definitely worth it. We visited the fort. This was very special and impressive. After our visit to the fort we visited the caves with a small glass bottom boat. The only downside was the long wait for a boat for the return trip in the bright sun because there were no shade spots.

A rock in the middle of the Atlantic
Basically this is a rock in the Atlantic - not a lot to do except walk around up and down hills. Little to no vegetation no trees just a big rock. The cave tour was overrated and not worth the extra charge. We don't recommend this experience.
Response from the operator: Hello, good afternoon. Yes, an island is just that: a large rock (mountain) in the middle of the ocean. Almost everyone can see the beauty of Berlenga Island, but not everyone is created equal. We'd like to thank you for spending this time with us. It was a pleasure to welcome you aboard. Thank you very much.

A little confusing based on what is on trip advisor but worth the visit
We didn't realize that this trip is really in 2 separate boats with some time to walk the island. The larger boat gets you to the island, it takes about an hour and then there's about 1/2 hour wait to get in the smaller boat to see the caves. Once we were there you see some people get to the island and hang out on the beach, and swim or snorkel. Others hike the island's paths. If you see the caves, you can walk back to the dock after seeing the caves and the remains of a fort. The walk takes about 45 minutes. When you get close to the dock, there's a place to get a drink and wait for the pick up time. There are multiple companies that offer these tours so there's a bit of confusion on who should go in which of the small boats. Details aside the scenery is quite beautiful and it was a good afternoon.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and excellent review. It was a pleasure to welcome you on board. We are delighted to hear that you loved the trip. Our team always strives to create unique moments, with multilingual guides and a great atmosphere on board. We hope to welcome you back soon for more unforgettable adventures in Peniche/Berlengas! We send you best wishes from the entire Odisseia Viva team.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Catamaran trip to Berlengas Island + visit to the caves start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
