    Decent experience

Great crew that looked after us, while being great tour guides. Be aware of the $20 USD dock fee, which wasn’t stated in the booking.

    DO NOT RECOMMEND

While the boat ride was the best part of this excursion the rest of the trip was not. The snorkeling is a joke and we all felt you should be ashamed to say it is a snorkeling trip. First we are dropped off and need to swim to the reef, once at the reef we are still guided through without time to snorkel. You have so many people on the boat and going to a reef where there are so many other boats you heard the people like cattle and about the time we see fish you start moving us to load back onto the boat. Second the drop offs at the first island as we were the last to get off the boat no one told us where to go for lunch and we missed it. Drop off at the second island without any instruction except for the beach and shopping. Both drop offs would not allow you to get back on the boat either if you were finished walking around.

    Almost Impossible Catamaran Excursion

I only gave 4 stars because the hotel we selected as our pick up location did not allow us entry because we were not guests. Please be sure you are a guest at the hotel you are selecting to be picked up at as this can cause you to miss your Catamaran excursion. We ended up staying in the taxi we used to get to the pick up location all the way to marina chac chi in Cancun to board the catamaran. That was an extra $90 U.S. Bring your own towels for the beach club or pay $8 per towel at the marina. It’s not a beach club there are complimentary beach chairs on the beach. The food at the lunch buffet is served under a huge tiki hut and it’s pretty good, the ceviche was delicious. The drinks are mediocre probably because they’re included in the tour price. We ordered another round of drinks after the 1pm all you can eat/drink cut off time & they were so much better than the ones that were included with the buffet. The beach is beautiful at Isla Mujeres. There’s a ferry called Ultramar that goes to Isla Mujeres (found this out afterwards) and it’s a lot less expensive. Overall we had a great time on this catamaran excursion, the crew was lively & entertaining.

    Isla Mujeres

The view was very beautiful. The crew worked hard to deliver your drinks while aboard. However, the drinks are watered down and you only spend 2 hours on the island. The buffet food is disgusting and the restaurant wasn’t very clean.

Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Catamaran Tour from Cancun to Isla Mujeres start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
