    Awful misleading trip

Absolutely dreadful we were told to use biodegradable sunscreen which cost us 400 pesos then when we were about to get on the boat were told we could not snorkel because we were over 60 nowhere in the trip description did it mention this because obviously would not of booked it we were the only 2 English speaking people so just got totally ignored the whole trip when we got to the buffet at supposedly prime beach club there was no food left really appalling trip would not recommend and Viator were not helpful with our complaint

Staffs were good, beach & beach club location terrible.

The trip was very disappointing, the downtown beach water was very blue and turquoise but the beach clubs we were at had brownish-blueish & seaweed. The food was good & staff was okay. The boats drink was meh. Over all experience was 1/10. Id say this trip would've been way better if we stayed at the downtown area and had lunch there because you could've rented the golf cart from the down area and visited the whole island from 12-4 but we had to waste time to go from downtown to another beach club. Mostly we all come for the blue & turquoise water, if not then i dont know.

    Great experience and great crew!

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great experience for the cost. Pros * Great group of staff on the boat, the boat was perfectly fine and safe * Snorkeling was lots of fun, all equipment was perfectly fine , and they were very careful to keep the group together and be safe. * Visits to Isle Mujeres was great , lots of shops, beautiful beaches and things to do (scooters, golf cart rentals, etc.) * Drinks and food food, buffet style, all included * Almost everyone spoke some English, making everything easy for us ! * A photographer took lots of pics, still waiting to hear what he does with them or how we get copies ? Etc..assuming they charge so review on is pending. Cons * Ticket sales woman tried to rip us off at beginning and it seemed very intentional (said 20 usd x2 is 800 pesos but it's only like 720) * Everything in the shops is over priced * Didn't stay at first stop long enough to really enjoy it fully or shop much * Didn't get to go spinnaker sailing though the weather and wind seems fine for it. It wasn't even discussed I don't think. Overall amazing experience. I'm so glad I picked this crew and company for our excursion!! Thank you

    The real deal

To be honest, some of the reviews had me nervous, but we went for it anyhow. I know that some people are just complainers and some a little too high and mighty. Note: we did book the upgraded package with premium drinks and the smaller group size. Well worth it to have a little more room and not be so crowded. This excursion was amazing. The ride in from Playa Del Carmen to Cancun was a little long, but it is just the distance that has to be travelled. But oh… so worth it. Our weather was very rainy for the morning, but snorkeling in the rain was very cool. And it was warm enough that we didn’t really get cold being wet and rainy. The first stop on the island is just the normal tourist shopping crap, but the prices were better than in Cancun or Playa. We just walked down the strip and went for a swim. Best way to not mind the rain. The sail around to the southern area was pouring rain, but we had a good laugh during it and still got to see the gorgeous coastline. The weather cleared as soon as we got to the 2nd stop and got to enjoy food, drinks and the beach. Lots of time to relax. Then it was time to get on the option golf carts. ***Don’t make this optional… DO IT!!! Well worth the money for getting to see the island. The rough condition of the carts are half the adventure. The cart tour gives you a great chance to see the residential part of the island and some gorgeous views of the ocean in all directions. Plus, driving golf carts through town is just fun no matter how old you are. Then back for more beach time, drinks and fun. On the way back we were fortunate to get to raise the sails and just enjoy the ride. Lots of drinks, fun and laughs. And the ride home…. Well, we slept so it passed quickly… Overall, a purely fun and relaxing day. Just as intended.

    Good

My husband and I went on this excursion for our honeymoon. We were initially told it was another $20 each for “dock fees” and when we arrived, they charged us $40 a person so we paid another $80 in total which we were not very happy about. We got to snorkel for 15 mins but did not see anything (which we understand is out of your control) The hosts and workers on the boat were fantastic and fun. Very friendly. The catamaran ride itself was very fun. The beach at the second stop on the south end of the island was not at all what we were expecting from what we saw in pictures. The water was very dirty. The food was good but the drinks on the island were not. I asked for a margarita and was given tequila and lemonade.

Response from the operator: We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences with us! It’s great to hear that parts of the experience were enjoyable, but we also understand there’s room for improvement. Your feedback helps guide our efforts to enhance our services, and we hope to have the chance to exceed your expectations next time!

Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tulum.

How much does Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tulum usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tulum is not rushed.

Is Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Catamaran Sail to Isla Mujeres from Cancun or Riviera Maya start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tulum?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Tulum Guided Tour, Magical Cenote, Lagoon Snorkeling and Beachside Lunch, Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch and transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tulum?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tulum?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
