Catalina island is...

Catalina island is beautiful and surrounded by the most gorgeous water. The snorkeling was a little disappointing. We also found ourself waiting around for the staff a lot.

Response from the operator: Good morning. Thank you for your review. Regarding your disappointment with the snorkeling, we are unsure what you are referring to, as this tour is one of our best-sellers and people are usually fascinated by it.

Lovely day, but not much snorkeling

It was an enjoyable day, but there was a lot less snorkeling than we'd hoped for. We saw one sort of sad reef (a lot of damage to the coral). The staff who led the snorkeling activity did some things really horrifying to conservationists, like standing on coral and feeding the fish. We spent a couple hours on a lovely beach, including lunch with an open bar (tiny cups of beer, sangria, rum & coke). But we really would have preferred to spend that time snorkeling further. That said, Catalina is a very beautiful place and worth seeing. (The part of the beach where you can swim has a pretty rocky bottom, though.) A note about transportation: for so many of these kinds of excursions, it seems like you spend as much time in a van getting to where you want to be as you do at your activity. The transportation for this tour, however, was pretty efficient and straightforward. La Romana is not next door to Punta Cana, and getting in and out of Cap Cana will always involve security delays, but it all worked about as well as it could have. We waited about 45 minutes at the tour's home base for other groups to arrive in the morning, but got to visit with parrots and little kitty cats in a pretty courtyard with a pool.

Response from the operator: Hello, thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your experience. You'll be given the established snorkeling time of 45 minutes, and the rest is just a matter of spending time on the island enjoying yourself.

I recommend big time !!!

Went in November 2023. Transportation from/to Punta Cana hotel went with no hiccups. They sent clear pickup details in advance and they were there at the planned time. There is a 20-25 mins boat ride to the island and sometimes the ride is bumpy, depending on the waves. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had time to relax on the island and they had beach chairs in the shade <3. Snorkeling is not as fantastic as I anticipated, but it was fun. We spent about 40 mins in the water. Lunch & drinks were nice. It's well organized and safe. I was told that the Saona island offers a comparable experience, but with a lunch not as good as this one. I recommend big time !!!

Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters cost?

+

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Catalina Island Snorkeling: Explore its Crystal Clear Waters start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

+

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
