Trip to the island 🏝️ Catherine

Traveling to Catalina Island was a spectacular experience especially if you like the sea the tranquility and contact with nature from the exit usually from the Roman the atmosphere already felt relaxed and full of expectation the boat trip was quite pleasant with beautiful views of the coast and a water of an intense blue inviting you to dive before arriving to the island we made a stop to snoker on the wall an area famous for its impressive coral wall there I could see coral colored fish and an incredible marine biodiversity which made the experience even more special.

No show. Took our money and never picked us up.

CAUTION. We booked, paying the $90 person for the Catalina snorkeling trip. The only “pick up instructions” are on the electronic ticket you receive which notes your pick-up location, in our case Hard Rock Punta Cana. We never got picked up. I received a text that morning, “Hola. They have a tour today to Saona Island. You are at the Hard Rock hotel.” Then, no pick-up. No call. No additional text. This company no-showed on another group, a family of 4, that same day, Monday, March 30th. I have filed a complaint via the Better Business Bureau. PLEASE see the high number of complaints there and book your excursion with a reliable and professional organization instead.

Great variety of snorkeling, boating and seeing a river.

This was an all day snorkeling trip with the family. Two stops to snorkel and lots to see along the way

    Scam

On December 30, 2026, on the excursion to the island of Catalina + Great snorkeling. We feel cheated, disgusted and disappointed. What promised to be a family day full of good times became quite the opposite. The most serious problem is that you sell through your website, a package whose itinerary does not conform to reality. The Bayahibe beach visit has NOT been made , i.e. there has been no such visit. We hired the excursion exclusively for the dive time in the same , and our surprise was capital when we found that it would not take place. If that were not enough, the day was loaded with TOTAL disorganization. Since the lack of professionalism of the driver, who did not assume his responsibility to attend to the group, and once we reached the jetty of the Romana, we had to find our own life with the group of 20 people that we were. Once on Catalina Island everything happened normally, the problem came once we got on the speedboat, which would transfer us to the Catamaran. It was chaos. There were no snorkel tubes, or at least our family didn't make it. It sounded laughing when the person in charge of the Catamaran told you to wait and they would give us one soon, you can imagine the disinfection process. Oblivious to this detail, we started doing the activity without the tubes, when 15 minutes later the guide whistle blew and we all had to get on the boat. By accidents a woman hit her nose because of the precarious situation and the activity ended. We were left on the Catamaran 1 hour waiting until we were transferred to Catalina Beach, and waited there again to, again, transfer to the jetty. My children summed up the day very well “ Mom we did 15 minutes of snorkeling, and we spent the day waiting a thousand hours.” Finally, we express our dissatisfaction at how the organization and management of the activity has proceeded. Really, you can’t imagine the excitement with which we took the excursion... we denied all offers from people who sold on the beach, and we bet on a serious company thinking about the confidence of getting a professional and serious service.

Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling cost?

    +

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Catalina Island DayTrip + Great Snorkeling start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
