What you get
About this experience
Traveling along the coast, we head to the southernmost tip of the peninsula of Attica, Cape Sounion, a getaway close to Athens and famous for its beaches, fish restaurants and the striking ruins of the Temple of Poseidon. Set high atop a cliff rising above the Aegean Sea, the temple forms part of a trio of ancient sites, including the Acropolis, and the Temple of Aphaea on the Greek island of Aegina. Equal distances from each other as the crow flies, on a clear day you may be able to see all the monuments from the others. Sounio is also where Aegeus tragically fell from the cliffs when he saw the black sails that his son had forgotten to change, therefore believing he had died. The Aegean Sea was thus named after him. It is a beautiful place to watch the sunset, the white marble columns framed by the sky and the lovely blue sea!

Amazing, comprehensive tours with knowledgeable drivers and guides.
Amazing experience! We could not have asked for a better private tours then those we experienced with CATTAXI. After schedule a 5 hours tour of Athens with CATTAXI which was amazing we decided to contact Terry to ask for a driver for the next day. Terry at CATTAXI was able to provide not only a driver but a tour guide for our trip to the Temple of Poseidon and Sounio. Traveling with my husband who has mobility issues can be a challenge. Terry provide a wheelchair, at no extra cost, to ensure my husband would enjoy the tours. Each day the driver spoke with security guards, explained our situation and were given permission to us off at the closest location to the entrance of the sites. At the Acropolis on our first tour that meant driving right up to the entrance to the elevator. You can imagine the smile on my husband's face when the driver brought him in the wheelchair to the top of the Temple of Poseidon. He never expected to experience these sites up close. The kindness and compassion shown by Terry and his drivers and guide went beyond our expectations. The vehicles he provided were new models Mercedes vans and extremely clean. Each day the drivers provided us with cold water throughout the tour. Even though we scheduled 5 hours each day our tour ran over but it was not a problem. They want you to enjoy the tour and ensure you see everything you want to see. The drivers also know great photo op stops along the way and restaurant suggestions should you want to stop for lunch. CATTAXI was also the most reasonable as far a price but also the easiest to schedule and do business wtih compared to others. I would highly recommend CATTAXI if you want the most comprehensive, stress free tour while in Athens.

Panos Made Our Trip to Greece Unforgettable
From the moment Panos picked us up at the Athens airport, we knew we were in the best hands. Over the course of our trip, he drove us on four separate occasions — including a full-day journey out to Cape Sounion to visit Poseidon’s Temple and relax at a beach club. Not only was he punctual and professional, but he also waited on standby all day to make sure we were comfortable and cared for. That level of dedication is rare. Panos speaks excellent English and is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people we’ve encountered in all our travels. He’s warm, personable, and genuinely passionate about sharing his beautiful country with others. On our final ride, he even surprised us with sweet gifts, a gesture that was completely unexpected and incredibly touching. I cried. Having Panos as our driver felt like having a trusted friend by our side. He elevated our experience in Greece and gave us a sense of safety, connection, and joy that we’ll never forget. If you’re lucky enough to book with him, know that you’re not just getting a ride, you’re getting a genuinely wonderful human who will make your trip better in every possible way.

Excellent, worry free service
I used Catt taxi for airport transfers so decided to reach out about a ride to Poseidon’s temple last minute. He responded right away and gave me a full itinerary and said he’d pick me up in a few hours. It worked out perfect for my group! Terry ensured we had no worries and that all our expectations were exceeded. Catt is great for airport transfers as well!

Outstanding Athens Tours and Transfers
Terry and the Cattaxi team have been outstanding in all ways visitors look for. Prior to our arrival in Greece, he was very responsive to all our questions via email from the United States. Once in Athens he was always communicating with us within minutes on our phone texts for all our details for transfers and especially on our half day personal tour at the Cape of Sounion , Temple of Poseidon trip. During this trip we met our driver and guide - PANOS T (Greek spelling is Panagiotis P) a very personable, most friendly, multilingual well traveled host for 5 hours. Panos spoke English very well, drove perfectly and phenomenally safe. He always took his time not because it is his job but you can see the passion in his customer service and commitment. Ideally this tour is for sunset, and Panos made sure we had ample of time for that and more. He made sure we were never rushed and went above and beyond to make our time all that we had wished for and more until our return at the hotel. Overall, Terry, Panos and the team here are the golden standard for all your travel and tour needs in the area. The transportation vehicle was in perfect condition and handled very well for all terrains, and ensures comfort for everyone in addition to Panos driving expertise. When in Greece this will always be our go to for all transfers and any tours.

Absolutely recommend!
CATTaxi delivers. All drivers showed up promptly and very easy to communicate a plane change with the service and they adjusted pick up time. We used them four times. All the cars were clean and appeared like regular taxis. I am so glad we used them and took stress out of the equation in Athens. The form to fill out request for service can be a little tricky. Reaching out to them on WhatsApp made it easy to confirm everything as needed. I highly recommend!

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cape Sounio (Half Day): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Cape Sounio (Half Day) cost?
+
Prices start at $490 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cape Sounio (Half Day) take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Cape Sounio (Half Day) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cape Sounio (Half Day)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cape Sounio (Half Day) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cape Sounio (Half Day)?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cape Sounio (Half Day) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
