Nice chilled day out, good non boat option

Really enjoyed our day out. El Meco was worth the visit, very interesting spot. Our guide was great. We took the private tour which really was just us on the bus. 2 shopping stops, not too pushy. Tequila tasting was informative.

El Meco was the highlight of this trip for us

I really enjoyed seeing sites beyond my resort and El Meco was fantastic. I'm not big on shopping, but if you like luxury items and locally focused gifts, this is a good tour for that. The driver and guide were great. El Meco is a treasure!

    Kind guide, underwhelming activities

We booked this tour 2 months in advance. The most challenging part was communicating with Cancun Island tours. We messaged them multiple times ahead of our tour and it was very difficult to get responses from them. They said our driver would reach out to us with pick up details and then we never heard from them. We were not sure the tour was even going to happen. We first stopped at the Cancun sign to take pictures. Then, we stopped at the jewelry store for shopping. This store is VERY overpriced, even for the tourist area. Would not recommend buying things there. Most of the souvenirs you can get cheaper at almost any other shop. Next, we stopped for lunch, which was very good (they only give one coupon per group though, worth around $10). This stop also had some souvenirs, which were cheaper than the other store. Last, we stopped at el Meco, which is NOT a guided tour as the listing might make you think. They drop you off to walk around and then take you home. The site itself is beautiful and worth a trip, but you might save money taking a taxi or uber instead. This is also the last stop of the day, at one of the hottest points of the day. We would recommend going in the morning instead. Overall, my group did not think this tour was worth the value of it. Our guide Olga was very knowledgeable and kind. She managed a group of mixed language speakers very well.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear that your experience was not what you expected. We understand your concerns. We are taking your feedback seriously and will be addressing these issues immediately with our team. We are committed to providing a better cultural experience for our guests. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further. Sincerely, The Cancun Island Tours Team

Not the authentic tour you are looking for

The experience started with an amazing tour of the Hyatts Jewelry shop and “tequila tasting”. Associates were so kind in showing us the wonders of hotel jewelry. This was followed by “authentic tacos” at the Intercontinental restaurant “Mexico Magic”. The gift shop was the highlight (see picture). After so much excitement throughout the day we were finally taken to El Meco after a 3 hour detour to all the “hits”. Great history there, which was our original goal after all the nonsense detours and upselling.

Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping cost?

    +

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cancun Sightseeing El Meco Site, Letters and Shopping start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
