    Don’t miss!

This experience was fabulous! Fabian, the owner, has created a beautiful space for learning about butterflies. He’s very passionate and it comes through. We even got to release some butterflies! He took us to one of his favorite places for lunch and that was really fun also. Highly recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience! 🦋 It was truly a pleasure having you visit. Hearing that you found the space beautiful and the experience meaningful means more than you know. Butterflies have a special way of inspiring us, and I’m grateful I could share that passion with you. Releasing butterflies together is always such a memorable moment — I’m so happy you were part of it! And I’m glad you enjoyed visiting one of my favorite local lunch spots too. That’s one of the best parts of hosting — sharing not just the sanctuary, but a bit of the local flavor as well. Thank you again for the recommendation. I hope to welcome you back someday for more butterfly magic! 🦋

This is a beautiful, relaxing way to enjoy the natural wonders of Mexico. Fabian teaches about the butterfly lifecycle. You feel and see the magic of nature as you release a butterfly and watch it flutter into the air together with your dreams and hopes for the world. Thank you Fabian.

Definitely Recommend the Tour with Lunch and transport.

It was a wonderful experience, from the pickup at our hotel, to the tour, lunch and then the return to our hotel. Fabian is very passionate about his work at the Butterfly Garden and provided us with a lot of information about the plants and insects in the garden. We have been to many Butterly gardens around the world and have never had someone provide us with so much information about all the objects in the Garden and how they interact with one another. He limits the group size for each tour, so it feels more personal. The lunch was wonderful and we were able to learn so much about his journey, from starting the garden by himself with a few workers/helpers, to his vision for the future. His operation is funded entirely by ticket sales and donations and he has done a wonderful job so far. He was in the process of adding a Museum to the garden and had just added Wi-Fi to the area. A great way to spend a few relaxing hours.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Stan & Dayane for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. It truly means a lot to us. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the entire experience—from transportation and the guided tour to lunch and the return to your hotel. Our passion for butterflies, plants, and conservation is at the heart of the Butterfly Sanctuary, and it’s incredibly rewarding to know that our dedication and personal approach stood out, especially given your visits to butterfly gardens around the world. We’re also grateful for your kind words about the small group experience, the lunch, and the story behind the garden’s journey and future vision. Your support helps make it possible for us to continue growing, educating, and conserving, including the development of the museum ( which is officially open)and ongoing improvements. Thank you for supporting an independently run conservation project. We hope to welcome you back again as the garden continues to evolve 🦋 Happy Holidays 🦋

    Learning and Fun with Butterflies

This was truly a great experience, I highly recommend for solo travel and family with children. Fabian was friendly and knowledgeable; I learned a lot about butterflies and how essential they are to us.

Response from the operator: Hola. Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad to hear you had a great experience. It’s wonderful that you’d recommend the sanctuary for both solo travelers and families — we strive to create a meaningful experience for everyone. Learning about the vital role butterflies play is something we’re passionate about, and we’re happy it resonated with you. Hope to see you again soon! 🦋

Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport cost?

    +

Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Butterfly Sanctuary, Museum & Lunch with Transport start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
