Each summer when the Palace is not being used in its official capacity, visitors can enjoy the 19 magnificent State Rooms that provide the setting for ceremonial occasions and official entertaining by members of the Royal Family. Visitors to the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace will see the White Drawing Room, perhaps the most beautiful of all the State Rooms with its spectacular crystal chandelier, the Music Room, where guests are presented on the occasion of a State Visit, and the Throne Room, which was the setting for the formal photographs following the wedding of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Castle's State Apartments are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection, reflecting the changing tastes of the Castle's royal occupants, particularly those of Charles II and George IV. Many of the works of art are still in the historic settings for which they were first collected or commissioned by the kings and queens who have lived at Windsor. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the Castle with a free multimedia tour. From October to March, visitors can also walk through the sumptuous Semi-State Apartments, which served as the private rooms of George IV in the 19th century.

It was a self guided...

It was a self guided tour. Tour guide only escorted us to the gate then told us what time to meet and the location for the other tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry if there was any confusion about the self-guided nature of the tour and what to expect from the guide’s role. We appreciate your comments and understand that you were expecting more guided commentary and assistance during the visit. We’ll share your feedback with our team so that the tour description and expectations can be communicated as clearly as possible to our guests. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable experience in the future. Warm regards, Evanevanstours team

Not worth using, just as easy on your own. They are not guides.

Its NOT guided in any manner, The staff meeting you at Buckingham was late and gave only a map and wrong time for you to walk about 30 to thier off to go to Windsor Castle. Buckingham is less than an hour and the Castle is 2.5 hours. The balance is a complete waste of your time..

Response from the operator: Dear James_H, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize that your visit to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the guidance provided and the scheduling of the tour. Your comments are very important to us, and we will review the matter carefully to improve the coordination and ensure clearer communication in the future. We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your feedback as it helps us enhance our service. Should you wish to discuss this further or seek assistance, please feel free to contact our Customer Service team. Thank you for choosing Evan Evans Tours. Kind regards, The Evan Evans Tours Team

Lots of waiting. Was told...

Lots of waiting. Was told wrong time between stops. Says USB charging on bus. Didn't work. Way to long between palace and castle plus walk from palace to next meeting spot long walk. Said meet at 9am. Ticket guy showed up 920.

Response from the operator: Dear Joseph_L, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your tour, including the waiting times, incorrect information about timing between stops, and the USB charging issue on the bus. We understand how these factors can impact the overall enjoyment of the day, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention. Regarding the delays and walking distances, we strive to balance the itinerary to provide the best experience possible, but we recognize there is always room for improvement. Your comments will be shared with our operations team to help us enhance future tours and communication. We value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a smoother and more enjoyable experience in the future. Warm regards, The Evan Evans Team

Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.

How much does Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London cost?

+

Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London take?

+

Plan for about 9.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.

Is Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 98 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London?

+

Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 9.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Escorted Tour from London start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in London?

+

London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit London?

+

May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in London?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
