    Poorly maintained bikes

I would not recommend Velo Service Rental. You may read the full story below, but the short version is that they rented us poorly maintained, very worn-out bikes that broke, then told us it was our financial responsibility to have them repaired. We rented 2 bikes for a 4-day bikepacking trip from Bari to Lecce. On pickup, they said we had a "5-minute to test the bike" period. The bikes seemed a little squeaky but appeared at that point to be working. We didn't do a close inspection and, frankly, aren't very experienced in bike maintenance (we realize we should have been more thorough and also taken pictures before accepting the bikes). The mild squeaking present initially got worse on day 2 and we noticed the rear gear hub on that bike was bowed and wobbling. Shortly after that the wheel failed completely. We were riding smoothly on roads the entire way and the bike was sized appropriately for the rider. We immediately contacted Velo Service to notify them of the malfunction (as well as when we noticed the wobbling issue earlier). They were able to provide the name of a repair shop close by but refused to pay for any part of the repair, and said if we brought the bike back early they would deduct the repair charge from our credit card. While trying to resolve the issue on the phone with them they said it was in the contract that we were responsible for any repairs that might be required after the acceptance period. In all fairness, we did not read that part of the contract, nor did we notice sign of poor bike maintenance before accepting them as we should have done. I would still say it is dishonest and in bad faith to rent out poorly maintained equipment with possible imminent malfunction, and then make it the responsibility of the customer when it breaks. I could understand having to pay for damage if you caused damage due to a crash, but this was not the case for us. The part was going to break at some point, and as the bikes are always rented out to customers, they will only ever malfunction while in customers' possession, making it their responsibility for the repairs. As a sidenote, after we returned the bicycles we received a message that there was something else broken and that they would deduct €160 more from our credit card. When I asked for pictures and a description of what was wrong, they said they "reinspected the bike and everything was fine". I would be wary of trusting this company.

    Wonderful service

Extremely friendly. Excellent bikes. Very good value. And the staff were extremely helpful especially Teresa. Puglia is a wonderful place to cycle around - beautiful coast , historic towns + amazing scenery. The cycling is not too tough. would recommend

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you had such a great experience and we’ll pass your kind words to Teresa 🚴‍♀️💛

Didn’t bike went on afternoon tour which was poor because it was in Italian and poor english

Terrible bikes, then they wanted to give us others after I felt so uncomfortable with what they gave us. It was crowded and we chose annabfternoon tour instead but the guide spoke a poor English and it was led in both Italian and English, poor experience.

    Very nice experience!

Our guide Anna was top! Her explanation was clear and well-documented. She even spoiled us with a focaccia from the best baker in Bari! The tour gives a great impression of Bari’s diversity. Ann & Kristin from Belgium

Bike Rental in Bari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bari.

How much does Bike Rental in Bari cost?

    +

Prices start at $7 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bari usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Bike Rental in Bari take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bari is not rushed.

Is Bike Rental in Bari worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 96 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bari, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Bike Rental in Bari?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Bike Rental in Bari suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Bike Rental in Bari?

    +

Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bari can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bari and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Bike Rental in Bari start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bari within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bari?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bari experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bari’s Ultimate Street Food Tour - Small Group by Do Eat Better, Boat Tour of the Polignano a Mare Coast with Aperitif, Polignano a Mare: Boat Tour of the Caves - Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bari?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bari?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
