Fun and educational trip through Sintra.

Diogo was our driver and showed us around Sintra perfectly. He told us a lot about the history of the monuments.

Outstanding tour. A must do. We all loved it.

I can’t recommend this tour enough. This tour company is professional and organized while also being caring and friendly. Took the Grand Tour of Sintra in March 2026. We are a family of 4. (Our kids are older, not sure what the minimum age is but I’m sure if you contact them they could tell you). Their office is a 2 minute walk from the train station. We were greeted warmly by the wonderful owner, then shown to our Tuk Tuk. We felt safe and at ease the entire time. We had one of the larger ones that was white and electric-powered. (Their 2 person Tuk Tuks are red). It was a bit chilly that day and they provided soft blankets. Our tour guide Leonardo was fantastic! So warm, friendly, and full of knowledge. The kind of person you want to spend 4 hours with. Great with the kids too. He took us beyond the town centre out to beautiful beaches and through quaint little towns full of locals, lemon trees, and beautiful buildings. The outskirts of Sintra are as charming as Sintra itself, and we would have totally missed this aspect of the area if we hadn’t booked this tour. Lots of places to hop out for a photo/bathroom breaks at remarkably clean & well maintained public bathrooms, and places to buy snacks. At our request, Leonardo ended our tour at the gates of Pena Palace as we had purchased tickets separately online for 4pm to tour the castle. We then booked a ride back to the train station with them when we finished touring for a reasonable cost. If you don’t book this tour, you miss out on the gorgeous nearby surrounding area and beaches near town, great information from the guide, and tips on what to do after the tour ends. Four hours was not too long, and our kids enjoyed the experience as much as we did. Tip: arrive to Sintra a little early and visit the picturesque coffee shop directly across the street from the Discover Sintra office. Great cakes/coffee to eat in or take away, with a casual friendly vibe and child friendly. The owner recommended the coffee shop to us, and we were so glad he did. Discover Sintra Tours took all the stress/mystery out of touring this magic place. My husband and I were patting ourselves on the back for purchasing this tour. Highly recommend!

Check what sort of Tuk Tuk is lined up for you first......

This is not for the feint hearted! Maybe we were unlucky but instead of comfortable, large wheel electric Tuk Tuks we had ancient single cylinder, tiny wheel, noisy, bouncy ones for a 3 hour plus run over steep and bumpy mountain roads, scarily mixing it with main road traffic elsewhere. One of the Tuk Tuks was so knackered it could barely make the hills in anything other than 1st gear. The tour does not include admission to any places so you only see them from the outside. On the plus side, the guides were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and gave us much information. The scenery was beautiful. We were lucky with the weather but if it had been bad the Tuk Tuks offer little protection.

Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sintra.

How much does Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sintra usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sintra is not rushed.

Is Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sintra, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sintra can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sintra and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Best of Sintra, Private Tuk Tuk Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sintra within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sintra?

+

On Outty we rank every Sintra experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Tour Sintra from Lisbon Palaces of Pena and Regaleira, Private Sintra Tour Palaces and Coast by Vintage Car or Jeep, Sintra Historical Jeep Adventure - Palaces & Secret Routes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sintra?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sintra?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
