11/10 Xi’an Terracotta Experience

Julia was the best tour guide for the Xi’an Terracotta Warriors Tour. Flawless English and she has a great sense of humor. We traveled from the USA to Beijing and took a train to Xi’an and a flight back. Catherine Lu Tours made it super easy and an unforgettable time. If you are debating booking this tour just save yourself time and book with them and ask for Julia.

Wonderful tour of Terra contra warriors, big goose pagoda and Muslim street… even in the rain!

Catherine Lu tours provided a wonderful experience. See our earlier post about the Beijing leg of our custom China tour which describes how confident we are in this company. In Xi’an it was raining buckets and buckets. But we had great fun even so, thanks to our tour guide, Becky. We highly recommend her for her English language skills, clear communication, care for our enjoyment and safety, knowledge, and charm. We had an awesome day, despite the rain. In fact, it was much cooler due to the rain than it had been in Shanghai and Beijing! The Terra cotta warriors were very crowded with many people, but Becky found ways to navigate the crowd and to get us the best places to push in and see things clearly. She also took us to a fourth building that only tour guides are really familiar with, and there we saw more of the Warriors up close. We learned so much more from Becky than we knew about the Warriors beforehand, including fascinating facts about the work that is needed to dig reassemble and care for the warriors and other artifacts. This is an amazing site, but made more so by the competence and professionalism of our guide. Afterwards, we visited the big goose pagoda, where Becky continued to share fascinating insight. We learned so much about the Buddha and this temple, increasing our respect and admiration for this ancient faith and its believers. And finally, becky took us on a tour of the Muslim Street. This fascinating and exciting area is filled with color and homemade, traditional food. Becky helped us to navigate all of the wonderful things that we could have eaten, and we all sat down together over bowls of fantastic lamb soup. She also recommended that we try the goat stomach! It might sound bad to foreigners to China, but if you love burgers and sausage, you’ll love this. It was like a grandmother‘s homemade cooking, and a great way to end the day with our wonderful guide. We highly recommend Becky and Catherine Lu Tours for exploring this fascinating city.

Absolutely Amazing

We booked Catherine Lu tours through Get Your Guide and they excelled with there efforts to make it a great experience despite the obstacles we faced due to an unforeseen national parade that meant access to and from our hotel wasn't possible. After patiently booking us into another hotel we were able to enjoy a fantastic experience with the help of Julia our very informative tour guide. We had a tasty meal, were shown and educated about the history and were lucky enough to meet Mr Yang the farmer who discovered the army and were safely put on our train home.

Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train cost?

+

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train take?

+

Plan for about 17 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 17-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 17-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Beijing: to Xi'an Terracotta Day Tour by Roundtrip Bullet Train start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

+

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
