Immersive, Easy-Going Tour of Mae Kham Pong Village - Recommend
The reason why me and my friends loved this Mae Kham Pong Village tour was because of our excellent tour guide, Bua. Bua is an excellent communicator, intelligent, knowledgeable, and a warm person to be around. She is a quality professional in her field. I say this especially because our group has interacted with other tour guides for other tours and the level of quality was incomparable to Bua. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. The only point of improvement was the Thai cooking class activity. We did not really get to cook; we just helped with momentary stirring, cracking an egg and that was primarily it. The base of the broth and cut veggies were already prepared beforehand. However, it was really nice to not have to cook after our long day. I would suggest reframing how it's advertised online because it's not really a cooking course. The tips I would offer for this tour are: 1. Make sure to wear comfortable attire (e.g. sunhat, socks, etc) and shoes for walking through a forest. 2. Wear insect repellent 3. There's an herbalist guide on the tour too so if you're planning on tipping, as we were, then make sure to bring enough baht for both tour guides.

Off the Beaten Path...in a Great Way!
Get out of the city and spend the day in Mae Kham Pong Village...and the area around it. You won't be sorry....it's a delightful village full of great places to eat and shop and just enjoy the environment. Take a side trip to the falls not far away...or the top of the mountain for a great view...and don't miss touring the temple along the creek. It was one of the best days we spent while we stayed in Chiang Mai.

This a great local experience with fantastic guides
We really enjoyed this experience. Bonvoyage is a local company so you are supporting local entrepreneurs who really know their stuff. The day was relaxed and flexible. We enjoyed being able to tweak the day to our interests. The local guide in Mae Kham Pong was a real kick and so much fun. The hike was easy and informative and doable for most fitness levels. We enjoyed lunch in a local’s home followed by a Thai massage. Local coffee overlooking the valley was a real treat. Communication was quick, clear and positive. I highly recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Dear Islandkris, Thanks for the review and great to see you enjoyed your tour with us. Regards, Nick

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $2450 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Authentic Mae Kham Pong Village Cultural Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
