Aurora
Great tour! Lindsay is very passionate about Aurora, very knowledgeable. Took us to a remote area where no other groups were there. Very patient to take pictures in that freezing weather. Had a great time.

Enlightening
Standing beneath the Aurora is both humbling and breathtaking! Lindsay provided a wealth of information/knowledge, along with a blend of science, understanding and appreciation for a part of the mystery. Not only is she passionate about the experience, she is super excited to share that experience or introduce the experience to a 'first timer'. She has access to graphs and apps for Aurora activity and maximum viewing times. She also is knowledgeable about Fairbanks and the surrounding area. In the rear of the vehicle, are thermos' of hot cider and cocoa! She simply exudes happiness! And, that's how I felt spending the night with her. Including the moments of 'making snow'! She and Shannon make a great team and Bill and I are grateful for the time spent with her. Warmly, Susie Weber

Aurora Magic with Lindsay – A 6-Star Experience!
If I could give 6 stars, I absolutely would! ✨ Lindsay is a gem—knowledgeable, accommodating, and just such a fun person to be around. We originally booked for November 15th, but on the morning of the 14th she emailed us to suggest going a night earlier since the aurora forecast looked much better. That turned out to be the best decision ever! A couple of nights before, we had already seen an incredible aurora show at Borealis Basecamp and thought nothing could top it. We were wrong. Lindsay picked us up right at our Airbnb and took us to several beautiful spots to chase the lights. Along the way, she shared fascinating insights about the science behind the aurora, the night sky, and the stars. Our two kids (ages 8 and 12) were completely engaged and had an absolute blast learning from her. What really stood out was the care Lindsay took to make sure we were all comfortable in the cold. She came prepared with hand and foot warmers, hot drinks, and snacks. Her car was warm, roomy, and cozy—perfect for the kids to hop in and warm up while we waited for the lights to appear. She even helped us capture photos with the aurora, which we’ll treasure forever. The grand finale was breathtaking: at our last viewing spot, the aurora danced vividly across the sky, right before our eyes. It was pure magic—an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. To top it all off, Lindsay surprised the kids with a thoughtful little gift at the end of the night, which made them so happy (and us too!). Wandering Alaska delivered far beyond our expectations, and Lindsay made the entire evening extraordinary. If you’re considering an aurora tour, don’t hesitate—book with Lindsay. You’ll walk away with memories that shine as brightly as the northern lights themselves. 🌌💚

Unforgettable
Had the best time Lindsay is very professional but very personable. She never lets us down. Came last year and she just keeps getting better and better . Her knowledge of the aurora is amazing . If you can only go on one tour you won't want to miss this company. .she always manages to find spectacular lights . Well worth the money I highly recommend.

Wonderful service and experience
We went out with this company as a group of 16. They made sure to have plenty of qualified guides to help with camera set ups, pointing out where the lights were, interesting facts about what the data meant, and great hot drinks and snacks. They took amazing photos of everyone under the lights. I would highly recommend this company and will be going out with them on my next trip to Fairbanks.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Fairbanks.
How much does Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase cost?
+
Prices start at $245 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Fairbanks usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Fairbanks is not rushed.
Is Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable nightlife in Fairbanks, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Fairbanks can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Fairbanks and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Aurora Oval Nightly Northern Lights Chase start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Fairbanks within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Fairbanks?
+
Fairbanks is the aurora capital of interior Alaska: heated viewing lodges, late-night chase tours, Arctic Circle day drives up the Dalton Highway, dog sledding and summer riverboat cruises. On Outty we rank every Fairbanks experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights - Aurora with FREE Photos - Arctic Night Tours, Dog Sledding and Mushing Experience in North Pole, Fairbanks Ice Fishing Expedition in a Heated Cabin with Fish Cookout. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Fairbanks?
+
Late August to April for aurora, June to August for midnight-sun river trips. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Fairbanks?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
