About this experience
Visit Ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal. The location of countless ancient myths, like the myth of Sisyphus and there were games like the Olympics held in the devotional area of Isthmia. Although the city was destroyed by Romans,The ancient city was destroyed by the Romans, who built a new city in its place; we can still see the extensive ruins (including the columns of the Temple of Apollo) that testify to Corinth’s great prosperity. It is also one of the places that Saint Paul visited and wrote letters to. As we cross the Isthmus, we stop to see the great feat of engineering that finally opened the route between the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf - the Corinth Canal. It was finished in 1893, even though the idea existed at least as far back as 602 BC!

Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos)
In 400 BC it had a population of 90,000 people. In addition to being in a strategic location, at the intersection between east and west, it was also on fertile soil. It was also the location of countless ancient myths, such as the myth of Sisyphus. Games – including the Olympics – were held in the devotional area of Isthmia. From Athens to Nafplio and back!
We had an incredible experience with CATTaxi. Our guide/driver was Terry. He picked us up at the Athens airport and drove us to Corinth to see some of the sights there before ending at our hotel in Nafplio. Terry was always prompt, courteous, and full of historical knowledge. He made sure to tell us what to see while we were in Nafplio. Then he picked us up at the end of our stay and took us to more ancient sites in the Peloponnese before dropping us off at our apartment in Athens. The trip/tours were seamless and well choreographed. We felt safe. Well worth the money and would do it again!

Exceptional Service – Seamless, Safe & So Worth It!
I had a fantastic experience with CAT Taxi! From the moment I landed in Athens, everything was smooth and well-organized. I booked a private transfer to a retreat near Corinth, with some sightseeing along the way, and it honestly became one of the highlights of my trip. Terry was responsive and accommodating throughout the booking process, and the planning felt effortless on my end. He was professional, punctual and knowledgeable — sharing local insights and stories without ever being intrusive. The car was spotless, comfortable, stocked with water and great air conditioning. On the return trip before my evening flight, I also arranged a full-day scenic tour that was perfectly paced. The entire experience was excellent value for the quality of service provided. If you’re traveling in Greece, I can't recommend them enough. Thank you again, Terry! 🙏

CATtaxi-- great company, great people, great service!
Top Notch tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job. We had a wonderful deluxe van and were very comfortable. I have used CATTaxi for a tour in the past and it was wonderful as well. I travel to Athens twice a year for work, and always use CATTaxi for my transfers and excursions. Terry is the best and takes great care of his customers. Use CATTaxi! You won't be disappointed!

Ancient Corinth
Excursion was good. Ancient Corinth is a very impressive site and the museum is excellent However, the trip was expensive and, in our view, over priced.
Response from the operator: Thank you for finding the time to leave a review. I agree it is expensive. It is something out of my hands. When the trip is +200km, The litre of fuel is €2, +Tolls, 13-24% VAT, + Insurance and more then 25% Commission. It’s very difficult to keep low prices with good quality and always being legal. Hope to see you again in Greece.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ancient Corinth: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Ancient Corinth cost?
+
Prices start at $530 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ancient Corinth take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Ancient Corinth worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ancient Corinth?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ancient Corinth suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ancient Corinth?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ancient Corinth start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
