About this experience
This unique Alaskan experience is the only one of its kind offered in the Anchorage area. Get out and enjoy the beauty of Alaska! On a clear day we'll see as many as four mountain ranges in Southcentral Alaska, We'll spend our time on a small frozen lake in the Anchorage area. Using the latest electric ice auger, guests can help drill through anywhere between 6 inches to 3 feet thick ice. At times we'll see fish swimming below, either while looking through an 8-inch hole in the ice, or using technology to watch fish move below on sonar images on a depth finder. At times we may fish with jigs or spoons, at other times, hooks, bait and a bobber. We'll often see moose in the woods around town or at the edge of the lake. Bald eagles often watch from the trees nearby, looking for a free meal. Relax and enjoy the fishing, we'll take care of all the messy work and heavy lifting - except perhaps lifting the heaviest fish of the day from the water!

Ice Fishing
We had a great time ice fishing. It was SO cold while we were there but the tent was nice and warm. Every time we visit Alaska we do a guider tour, always with Ryan. He’s an excellent guide! If you’re on the fence- book the trip! You won’t regret it!
Response from the operator: Thank you! Really appreciate your review and your business! 🙂 Ryan

It was a great, peaceful...
It was a great, peaceful fishing trip! The whole experience felt so calm and relaxing, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our guide, Ryan, was incredibly kind and patient he took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time. Even if you’re not very experienced, he really helps you enjoy the process. Overall, such a memorable and enjoyable trip.

Booked this excursion as a solo traveler and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience! Our guide Ryan was amazing and very knowledgeable in the field. He made sure I caught plenty of fish. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Anchorage.

Such an excellent day!
My 11 year old and I had an absolute BLAST! This was the one thing that my son asked to do during our AK trip, and from start to finish, Ryan made everything super easy and fun. We caught dinner for that night and were able to treat our friends to some rainbow trout! It was all around perfect. Thank you for such a great time!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! I'm so glad you had such a great time! We'll hope to see you again soon! 🙂

Ryan was very punctual...
Ryan was very punctual and provided a great experience! He has a lot of knowledge on local fish and wildlife, we were able to trade stories back and forth all day. The tent he provides is heated and I was very comfortable for the duration of the tour. I was able to catch 4 good sized rainbow trout using his equipment. I also enjoyed getting to know him some and was very content with my excursion. For the price I paid, it was well worth the money. Thanks Ryan!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Anchorage.
How much does Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation cost?
+
Prices start at $199 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Anchorage usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Anchorage is not rushed.
Is Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Anchorage, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Anchorage can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Anchorage and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Anchorage Ice Fishing Adventure with transportation start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Anchorage within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Anchorage?
+
Anchorage is the staging point for glacier cruises out of Whittier and Seward, Denali flightseeing, wildlife conservation centre visits, dog sledding and northern lights chases in winter. Long transfer times make itinerary honesty essential. On Outty we rank every Anchorage experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include PRISTINE - Wilderness, Wildlife, Glacier Experience in Anchorage, Anchorage Trolley's Deluxe City Tour, Anchorage Trolley's 1-Hour City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Anchorage?
+
June to August for glaciers, September to March for aurora. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Anchorage?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
