About this experience

From your cruise ship in Alexandria to the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, with a licensed Egyptologist who knows both worlds inside out. Your guide meets you at the port with an air-conditioned vehicle. You drive to Cairo and start at the Giza Plateau, standing at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, seeing the Sphinx, and visiting the panoramic view point where all three Pyramids align for photos. Then straight to the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum ever built. Your guide walks you through the soaring atrium past the towering statue of Ramses II and into the Tutankhamun galleries where his complete treasures are shown together for the first time in history. Lunch at a quality local restaurant, then return to your ship with 2 hours of buffer before sail-away. Maximum 8 travelers per departure, so you get personal attention from your Egyptologist. Often you may have the tour to your party only. We have been doing this since 2013.

Ahmed attarios was excellent with Egypt Day Tours

My trip with Egypt Day Tours was perfect. The service was excellent and punctual. We booked Egypt Day Tours as our main tour operator, and I'm delighted with that. Their prices are competitive, and their services are worth the price compared to other tour companies. Communication with Ahmed Attarious was excellent. I asked many questions, but he was very kind and answered each one promptly. They arranged airport transfers to and from the hotel. They were always on time, with professional drivers who even provided bottled water. A huge thank you to all the drivers for the comfort and safety they provided. and we had a wonderful day visiting the Pyramids and the Sphinx with Mohamed. He was very informative about the beautiful history of ancient Egypt, gave us valuable tips for traveling in Egyptian cities, and was very patient with all our requests. Thank you, Mohamed, for accompanying us on our tour of Cairo and for your advice on other cities.:))

Two fabulous and extremely well organised trips.

Ahmed Attarious, organised two great trips for our group of 4, from the Cruise port of Alexandria. During the booking process, he was exceptionally helpful and answered several emails very quickly. We had the same driver Mohammed who was very good and helpful. Doma, our guide spoke excellent english and was very knowledgable, amusing, friendly and courteous. throughout. Despite the current Middle East situation, we always felt safe and secure at all times. We had no problem finding our guide when we disembarked from the ship for our 6 hours tour of Alexandria. We first visited the Catacombs, which were very interesting , then passed by Pompey's Pillar before arriving at the Qaitbay Fort close to where the Ancient Lighthouse used to be. We then went to the area of the Mosque of Abu al-Mursi, where we entered one of the 3 mosques which are in close proximity. After a very good lunch at a local fish restaurant we then went to the very modern and impressive new Alexandria Library which has a collection of approx 8 million books. The second trip was a 6am start and 3hour journey to Giza to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx. This was an excellent 12 hour day and the history of the pyramids was brought to life by the information and enthusiasm of Doma, our guide. If we had just turned up on our own, or in a tour group of 50, then the it would not have been so memorable. After the Pyramids we chose to go for a typical Egyptian lunch, which was very tasty, and was enjoyed by us all. The final stop was the nearby, new Grand Egyptian Museum. The design was fabulous, with plenty of space to exhibit and see the myriad of treasures. This must not be missed, and hopefully in a couple of months it will also house the Tutankhamun exibition, which sadly at the start of October 2025, had still not been transferred there from the old Cairo Museum. Thank you Ahmed, it was a real pleasure to do business with Egypt Day Tours, and thank you Mohammed for getting us safely through all the traffic. To Doma we can only say it was a real pleasure to meet you and thank you for helping to bring to life just a small portion of your Egyptian history, in just a couple of days. It was Maya Maya ! Best wishes, Dave and Chris

Response from the operator: Dear Dave and Chris, Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your two fabulous private tours from Alexandria Port exploring both Alexandria city and the Giza Pyramids with the Grand Egyptian Museum. It truly means a lot to know that you had such a memorable experience with our Egypt shore excursions. We’re delighted that Ahmed made the booking process smooth and efficient, responding promptly to all your questions. It’s great to know that Mohammed, your driver, ensured a safe and comfortable journey throughout both days, and that Doma, your private guide in Egypt, brought history to life with his excellent English, humour, and passion for Egyptian culture. Your kind words about feeling safe and well taken care of are especially appreciated safety, comfort, and personal attention are always our top priorities for all our private tours in Egypt. We’re so glad you enjoyed exploring the Catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar, Qaitbay Fort, the Alexandria Library, and later discovering the wonders of the Pyramids, Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum all essential highlights of our cultural and historical heritage. On behalf of Ahmed, Doma, Mohammed, and the entire Egypt Day Tours team, we truly thank you for choosing us and for your kind appreciation. It was our pleasure to make your time in Egypt unforgettable, and we look forward to welcoming you again for more inspiring private tours and shore excursions across Egypt.

Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Alexandria.

How much does Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM cost?

+

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Alexandria usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Alexandria is not rushed.

Is Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Alexandria, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Alexandria can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Alexandria and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Alexandria Port Small Group Shore Excursion Pyramids and GEM start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Alexandria within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Alexandria?

+

On Outty we rank every Alexandria experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, Alexandria Full Day Tour, All inclusive private Giza pyramids,Sphinx & highlights of Cairo. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Alexandria?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Alexandria?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
