    Great day out

Had a great day out with Dylan on this tour . He was very Knowledgeable and we went round lots of streets and areas with plenty short stops for photos before we went to the woods . There was no stopping in Sausalito only a drive through before we headed back to go to Alcatraz. He was great at telling us when to be back and how long we had in each place.

Response from the operator: Thank you for joining us! We’re so glad you had a great day out with Dylan and enjoyed seeing so many different streets, neighborhoods, and photo stops before heading to Muir Woods. We’re also happy to hear Dylan kept everything clear and organized throughout the day, especially with timing for each stop and getting you back for Alcatraz. This tour includes a drive through Sausalito, but next time we’d love to have you join our Full Day Famous Tour, which includes a more relaxed lunch break in Sausalito. Hope to see you again soon!

Great experience of SFO in one day

Our driver Jules was our guide as well. Lots of historical information given and iconic sites visited in SFO. Golden gate and Muir Woods were great but unfortunately Sausalito was not included on the day as per the tour booking due to time restrictions!.Alcatraz visit was at the end, a self guided audio tour after our guide instructed us re the pre-booked tickets and the ferry. Overall excelletnt tour and very well organised.

Response from the operator: Thanks for booking direct with Dylan’s Tours and for sharing your experience. We’re really glad you had a great day exploring San Francisco with Jules. He does a fantastic job mixing in history, local insight, and all the iconic sights along the way. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the Golden Gate Bridge and Muir Woods, and that everything felt well organized from start to finish, including the Alcatraz portion. We appreciate you pointing out Sausalito as well. On some of the Alcatraz combination days, timing can be tight, so it becomes more of a scenic pass-through rather than a full stop, but we always aim to make sure the overall experience still feels complete. Thanks again for the recommendation, and hope to see you again soon.

Response from the operator: Thanks for booking with Dylan’s Tours. Love hearing that Jake made the day fun and informative, he really knows how to bring the city to life. Glad you enjoyed the pacing, the stops, and that playlist too. Hope to see you again soon.

Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.

How much does Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito cost?

    +

Prices start at $189 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.

Is Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Alcatraz Tour with San Francisco City, Muir Woods & Sausalito start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Francisco?

    +

San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Francisco?

    +

September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Francisco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
