What you'll see and do
Ketchikan
You will enjoy a fully narrated coach tour from downtown Ketchikan (or Ward Cove dependent upon your ship) to Clover Pass Lodge, the oldest operating fishing lodge in the state of Alaska.

Upon arrival you will board our comfortable boat, fully enclosed and meet your Captain and crew. You'll be whisked away into the wilderness for a one hour exploration of the wild and wonderful Tongass National Forest, all from the comfort of your boat.

Ketchikan
Our destination is Neets Bay Bear Observatory. We will arrive at the mouth of a salmon spawning stream and then enjoy a walk through the incredible forest, fully guided. You'll then arrive at the observatory where we will stay on the lookout for bears feeding in the stream. While we do see bears 99% of the time, WILDLIFE IS NEVER Guaranteed. You'll spend 30 minutes quietly observing these magnificent creatures before we make our way back to the boat.

One of the highlights of our Alaska trip
One of the highlights of our Alaska trip We did the Alaskan Bear Encounter by Land & Sea and it was easily one of the best excursions of our trip. We got some incredible wildlife sightings, including a black bear working its way along the creek and a bald eagle perched in the trees. Being able to watch the bear in its natural environment for an extended period instead of just catching a quick glimpse was especially memorable. Our crew and guides — Captain Adam, Michelle, and John — were excellent. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly knew the area and the wildlife extremely well. They gave us plenty of interesting information without making the tour feel overly scripted, and we never felt rushed when there was something worth stopping to watch. The combination of the boat ride, scenery, wildlife, and land portion made this feel like much more than just a basic bear-viewing excursion. Obviously wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but these guys clearly know where to go and what to look for. We had a fantastic experience and would absolutely recommend Adventure Ketchikan Tours to anyone visiting Ketchikan. Five stars and definitely something we would do again.

Great boat ride and small...
Great boat ride and small walk. Expected to see a lot more bears. Waited for an hour at the hatchery and no bears but locked out on the way back we came across mama bear and her cub.

5 Bears, Eagles, Dolphins, Sea Gulls!!
On the ship we had heard many people who were disappointed with a different bear experience so we weren’t expecting to see any bears. Much to our delight we encountered 5 bears enjoying their breakfast of salmon in a stream. Captain Trevin and guide Emerson were simply wonderful and very knowledgeable throughout the whole trip. We saw bear dens and the hike was easy. The boat ride to Neets was about 45 minutes and they even stopped so we could watch/photograph dolphins on the way. When we got to the bear viewing area we stayed about 45 minutes taking in the wildlife. Lots of eagles and sea gulls, too. There are restrooms available at Neets. I highly recommend this booking.

Bears cstching salmon
Taken by boat to island approx 30 mins..after short bus ride ..short walk to viewing area..it was just our group approx 25..30 people 2 bears were fishing for their salmon were on wodden viewing platform plenty room at the nearest bears were 8 metres away.good guide and would recommend
