Tastes of historic downtown alameda
Julienne is a 3rd generation alamedan, a foodie, history lover & terrific guide. Star on the Park served vegan deep dish pizza in an historic bank building. Picked up almond cookies at Genghis Kahn Kitchen, had the best crispy potatoes pancakes at Speisekammer served with apple sauce & sour cream (still dreaming about these) & tacos at family-owned Leña’s. The finale was the tealeaf salad at Burma Superstar-delicious beyond description! Got a tour of the historic Alameda Theatre & Cineplex which has an attached restaurant with a full menu that will serve meals at your movie seat! Overall, a most enjoyable tour & I highly recommend it.

Great Tour, Delicious Food - a LOT of it!
Highly recommend this lovely tour. Alameda is such a charming town, and Park Street is full of lively restaurants. Julianne is warm and personable with obvious relationships and as a third generation Alamedean, she had a wealth of knowledge to share from the history of the town, to movies that were filmed in the area. I had gone to Alameda high decades ago but hadn’t spent much time there since all the new development. I thought this would be a nice way to get acquainted with all the new venues, in addition to remembered favourites. I didn’t know what to expect food wise, thought perhaps that it would be perhaps a quick bite of appetizers at each place. Hubby and I even talked about picking up food afterwards for dinner. Ha ha! There was equivalent to a different course at each location, we were completely stuffed! Everything was delicious, and a really nice variety of cuisines. I would return to all of the venues and look forward to it next time I’m in town, will just be hard to choose which one to return to first! In addition to the four venues, we also checked out a couple of others with personal recommendations for additional cuisines. The tour even finished off with a stop at the Alameda Museum - so build in time at the end of the tour to stay and visit! Had no idea this was even there, and great location just off Park Street. This would be great fun to treat out of town guests, looking for something unique to do if you are new to Alameda? We wanted to do something unique for our Anniversary since we had met and worked in Alameda decades ago and it ticked all of our boxes!

Fun eating adventure in Alameda
We really had a fantastic time with our host, Julienne, on this street food tour! The weather wasn’t great so I was a little worried, but it didn’t even matter. We enjoyed the food at all four restaurants we visited and the « white glove » experience we had at each place—yumm! But we equally enjoyed learning lots of interesting history and fun facts about Alameda in the process! We would definitely do this again with friends or family and highly recommend! Thanks Julienne!

Best food tour experience Alameda
GREAT experience enjoyed every minute of the tour. Loved tasting the four delicious cuisines and learning the history of Alameda. Interaction with restaurant owners made the experience extra special. A definite must for tourists and locals.

Friends, Food, FANTASTIC!
This food tour was the perfect way to spend time with friends. This was my first time in this part of Alameda. The food was delicious! Our guide, Julienne, knew the staff at each of the establishments which made it seem like we were regulars. It was a warm feeling. All of the food was incredible (pizza, German potato pancakes, fish taco, salad, and almond cookies). The amount of food was perfect and the walking in between restaurants was the perfect balance of movement and food. The thread that connected everything was the history that our guide wove through the entire tour from start to finish. We visited historic buildings and heard stories of the past. Our group loved the art work in one place, and Julienne spoke to the fellow and we were able to walk through his studio next door. WOW! Alameda Street Eats you rock!!
Response from the operator: So amazing Kimilou! Thank you for your feedback and posted pictures! It was so wonderful to have met you on the tour!! I am so glad that you had a wonderful time!

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Alamedas First Walking Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oakland.
How much does Alamedas First Walking Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oakland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Alamedas First Walking Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oakland is not rushed.
Is Alamedas First Walking Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oakland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Alamedas First Walking Food Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Alamedas First Walking Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Alamedas First Walking Food Tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oakland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oakland and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Alamedas First Walking Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oakland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oakland?
+
Oakland covers bay sailing and kayak trips on the estuary, Lake Merritt walks, food tours through Temescal and Fruitvale, and easy access to Berkeley and wine country. On Outty we rank every Oakland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yosemite National Park & Sequoias Private Tour from San Francisco, Black Food Tour - Downtown Oakland, Ruth Bancroft Garden General Admission Ticket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oakland?
+
May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oakland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
