Everyone Should Do This!
I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner! My friends’ birthday was coming up and I thought taking a food tour to celebrate would be much more fun than just going out to an individual restaurant like we usually do. And it couldn’t have been a better decision. We took the North Berkeley Tour and Justin was our guide (who I very highly recommend). Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the history of all the delicious food we enjoyed, but he was also so personable and easy to talk to. It really felt like we were getting an insider’s view of the area. And of course, the selection of food we had was diverse and amazing too (all of it). The best advice I can give to someone who would like to book this tour is to bring your appetite because you will not be hungry when it’s over. In fact, by the time we got to our last stop for cupcakes, we were all so full that we just took them to go. I’m still amazed that we were able to visit so many different places in such a short distance. Many of the foods I tried were new to me but I think it’s safe to say I’ve now discovered some new favorites and will definitely be back. Oh, and for those who like to shop, we passed a few cute places along the way too. This really was a fun experience and a wonderful way to spend the day!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so happy you joined us for your friend's birthday celebration and experienced so many yummy new foods and places. We will let Justin know how happy you were and hope you join us on another food tour soon.

Great tour with Eve!
Great tour. We often do food tours when we travel. We find it a great way to check out places we may not find on our own. From the pizza to pastrami sandwiches to the cupcakes, this was a perfect way to explore Nirth Berkley.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review! We enjoyed having you on tour with us and look forward to you joining us again someday soon.

Good foot and company
First time in Berkeley. We were introduced to some excellent eating establishments. Also, Eve was a wealth of information about the restaurants themselves.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for joining us, Jeff! We love sharing our passion for the North Berkeley food scene with our guests, and yes, Eve, is the BEST! We hope you'll join us again someday.

Great experience!
This was such a great experience. We are Bay Area locals and we went on the North Berkeley Tour. Rebecca was our fabulous guide. The food itself was above and beyond what we expected. Everything was arranged ahead of time and it was a smooth experience at each place. Delicious food, things I probably would not have tried or known about without our guide. I loved hearing about the history and people behind the food as well. We are planning on exploring the area many more times in the coming months. All around fantastic experience!! Highly recommend for locals or visitors.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for the great review!! We love sharing our passion for the area and it's food with our guests. We look forward to touring with you again someday.

I had a delightful tour with Rebecca. She had so much knowledge of the area and its culinary history. The food was delicious.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for joining us and for the wonderful review! Rebecca is a gem! We hope you'll come on tour again with us some day.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Best of North Berkeley Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oakland.
How much does Best of North Berkeley Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $137 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oakland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Best of North Berkeley Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oakland is not rushed.
Is Best of North Berkeley Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Oakland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Best of North Berkeley Food Tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Best of North Berkeley Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Best of North Berkeley Food Tour?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oakland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oakland and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Best of North Berkeley Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oakland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oakland?
+
Oakland covers bay sailing and kayak trips on the estuary, Lake Merritt walks, food tours through Temescal and Fruitvale, and easy access to Berkeley and wine country. On Outty we rank every Oakland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yosemite National Park & Sequoias Private Tour from San Francisco, Black Food Tour - Downtown Oakland, Ruth Bancroft Garden General Admission Ticket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oakland?
+
May to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oakland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
