    Addo Elephant Park 2026

We were picked up punctually at 7am by our guide Thomas in the harbour. We had a great day at Addo Park. We have seen many elephants and animals. The highlight, of course, was the lions. Thanks again to our guide Thomas who showed us everything and explained a lot.

Response from the operator: Dear Anja, Vielen herzlichen Dank für Ihre wunderbare Bewertung!

Very hot day, but we spotted many wild animals

Jeandre was a really experience and friendly guide. He picked us up in time at 6:15 and we drove to Addo national park for approximate 40mintues. The park opens for guests at 7:00 and we had been the first guests at the southern gate. It took a few minutes and we spotted the first kudus in the bush. Although it was a really hot day (+43 degrees celsius) we have seen a lot of animals in the park: Ostrich Black-headed heron Blacksmith Lapwing Elephant Buffalo Red Hartebeest Eland Kudu Burchell‘s Zebra Warthog Vervet monkey Flightless Dung Beatle Leopard Tortoise Butterflies Bush caterpillars Bush spiders After our lunch at the northern gate at approx. 11:30, Jeandre drove on our request additionally to an area where lions had been spotted, but unfortunately they hided in the bush. It was a really great experience and Jeandre explained everything clearly and he answered all our questions. We definitely can recommend the privat tour with Jeandre; thank you for the great day :)

Response from the operator: It was definitely one very hot day, but ADDO National Park never disappoint. Such hot days results in some great sightings of elephants swimming all around the park. We are looking forward to your return.

    Excellent safari tour

Absolutely wonderful. Personal tour with a fabulous guide who gave us heaps of information and was able to answer all of our questions. Jonre was also not afraid to just drive in silence. He didn’t feel the need to speak constantly.

Response from the operator: Dear Valued Guests, Thank you so much for your kind review. It was an honor for me to be part of your holiday experiences. I am looking forward to welcoming you back in South Africa one day for another memorable time. Best Regards ADDO Tours and Transfers

    Excellent Half-Day Addo Experience

My family of four took a half-day guided tour of Addo Elephant National Park. We were limited to one-half day because we had arrived in Port Elizabeth late the previous afternoon, then we were flying out late the next afternoon. This was the perfect trip for the limited time that we had. Our guide, Jeandre, picked us up with his van at our apartment early in the morning. We drove to Addo Elephant National Park about an hour away. Jeandre had a very nice personality suitable to being a guide. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and the park, plus he shared his knowledge about the area on the was to the park and back. We spent several hours in the comfortable van and saw a number of different animals along the way. Having Jeandre as our guide eliminated the stress of trying to figure out where the animals were and how we were going to get to them. We were returned back to our apartment in Port Elizabeth with plenty of time to make our afternoon flight. It was an excellent experience that I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants to visit the park without much time to spare.

Response from the operator: Dear Mr Burgett, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent tour. We are delighted that you chose to do a tour with us. We are looking forward to your next visit to South Africa. Best Regards Jeandré Nothnagel

Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Port Elizabeth.

How much does Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth cost?

    +

Prices start at $179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Port Elizabeth usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Port Elizabeth is not rushed.

Is Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Port Elizabeth, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Port Elizabeth can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Port Elizabeth and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Addo Elephant National Park Tours from Port Elizabeth start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Port Elizabeth within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Port Elizabeth?

    +

On Outty we rank every Port Elizabeth experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale, Dolphin & Penguin Island Cruise, Addo Elephant Full Day Safari with a Traditional South African Braai (BBQ) Lunch, Addo Elephant National Park All Inclusive Full-Day Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Port Elizabeth?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Port Elizabeth?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
