    Excellent experience, but overpriced

The experience was really good, we did it early in the morning, and the queue was still very big. I booked it through Tripadvisor, but still had to queue to purchase tickets for the children even though you don’t pay for them as they are under 18, it was really annoying as we had to wait to buy tickets and then again to get in. Staff were helpful and spoke good English. We stayed for about 1.5hrs, as we did a self guided tour, which I recommend. It was very easy to navigate through the area, but it does get very busy and there were lots of people pushing to get close especially those in tour groups. If you do this definitely earlier the better.. If you take a bag you will have to queue to have this checked, and you can’t take food in there. It definitely wasn’t worth the money that we paid for it. Also to note, there is a lot of steps and walking to get up to the Acropolis, so make sure you wear walking shoes.

A truly wonderful experience at any age

There are many many stairs and inclines. The roads are paned with cobblestone. Because of this, they are uneven and many are very slippery. The older you are the more difficult it becomes to manipulate this area..

    Good option for tickets...

Good option for tickets and to be able to go through the acropolis at your own pace while still getting some information.

    Not worth it

This was not worth the money - book directly through the Acropolis. The price shown on the tickets was much higher than that on the Acropolis website, and I assume this was marked up because of the audio tour. We thought we had downloaded the correct tour ahead of time, but both my husband and I could not get the tour to work, despite downloading the app and using the code sent while we were on wifi. We then spent valuable time standing inside the Acropolis gate trying to figure it out. We gave up and just walked around and saw that they had QR codes and a free app once inside. We also felt very rushed for the 7pm entry - they started ringing the bells and clearing us before 8pm. So while it was a beautiful time to visit as the sun was setting, it was very rushed. Overall I am very disappointed and would highly recommend just booking a tour though the official website.

    The audio guide was...

The audio guide was excellently narrated, but it was somewhat difficult to follow where we should be at each step on the way. Better pictures would have helped because, unlike many museums and historic sites, there were no identifying signs marking the way. Despite the inconvenience of not always knowing where we should be, I would use Viator self-guiding tours again.

Response from the operator: Dear Michael, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the narration of the audio guide and that it enhanced your visit to the Acropolis. At the same time, we appreciate your comments regarding the navigation between points of interest. The Acropolis is a unique archaeological site with very limited modern signage in order to preserve its historic character, and we understand that this can occasionally make it challenging to follow a self-guided route. Thank you as well for your recommendation and for choosing Key Tours. We hope to welcome you again on another memorable experience in Greece. Kind regards, The Key Tours Team

Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours cost?

    +

Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

Is Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 37 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 195 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours?

    +

Around 68 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket w/ self guided audio tours start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
