Of course there are a few suggestion we can give you about how to spend your time (around 5 hours included lunch, trust me isn' t too much) in Orvieto and the choice can be done among a few activities. Ancient Orvieto its a walking city but nonetheless has a lot to offer. Being on a tufa hill and having being founded by the Etruscans, we'll go up and on the windy road we will meet an ancient etruscan "necropoli". After a stunning landscape the St. Patrick's well, unique work of engineering it' s somenthing that ask you the capacity to go up and down and do 500 steps. You can also go as down as you can/want to admire it. A part distroyed fortress stand on another panorama. What you'll see and do
Duomo di Orvieto
A symbol of the city itself, the Duomo is one of the most beautiful in Italy. The Duomo is a magnificent building that brings together different architectural styles. In particular we can define a fine example and balance of Gothic and Romanesque styles. The intent was to create one large cathedral for the city, to replace two decaying churches that existed there before.

Not as represented.
We scheduled a full day car and tour of Orvieto in English. I verified this multiple times when scheduling. The driver was polite but had limited English. His words he had only “scholastic English”. He also made it clear he was “driver only” and had not been to Orvieto for 20 years. We did have a wonderful time in Orvieto but we were mislead by Viator to believe our driver spoke English and would act as a tour guide.
Response from the operator: I' m so sorry John you didn' t have the best experience with my company. The driver I sent that time was not the best as far as english and I really apologize I could not be your driver that day. Driver in all my packges is not a guide. What drivers can do is just to give a general introduction to the place and a few suggestion. That's why is called "free tour ". Anyway I am really sorry about that and I' ll put more attention in the future on choosing the best driver available. Thank you so much

Friendly, organized, ready to please
Yuri was great! Clean, comfortable car. He is super friendly, with good English. He had a plan for the day that included visiting La Covita di Bagnoregio, a winery and Orvieto. But, as with all plans things happen. A road closure made it impossible to get to the winery without disrupting the timing of the rest of the day. He tried to make changes in the itinerary but couldn’t. So after Orvieto we returned to Rome a little early and he took us on a bit of a tour to areas in the city we hadn’t been to. He felt bad and wanted to make it up to us. A good day and we recommend Yuri. He also set us up with a 3 hour “get to know Rome” tour that included the catacombs (something we wouldn’t have done on our own) on the first day we got to Rome. That was good because we were tired from the overnight flight but could still sightsee with much effort.

Day trips from Rome
Juri was so much fun and such a great driver. He really knew the countryside in the history of Rome and Italy and was very enjoyable to hang out with for the day. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fun excursion and even just a ride from the airport to Rome. We feel like we quickly became friends. He speaks excellent English.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does A One Day experience in Orvieto from Rome start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
