Fantastic trip with great accommodation and fantastic sights.

We’ve had an amazing time in Kenya. Our guides were super nice and experienced. We saw everything we ever hoped to see and all our accommodations exceeded our expectations. The trip was super smooth and everything was arranged very well. There was flexibility in our program and room for improvisation when necessary. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again! We had one hickup with our train tickets which were unavailable or booked at the wrong time. The communication around this was a bit difficult, maybe also due to the Christmas break. Ultimately everything was handled correctly and properly.

Response from the operator: Jambo Carsten, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you had an amazing time in Kenya and that the safari lived up to everything you had hoped for. It’s fantastic to know that your guides made such a positive impression and that your accommodations exceeded expectations — that truly means a lot to us. We always aim to create smooth, well-organized trips with enough flexibility to allow for those special, spontaneous moments, so we’re glad you appreciated that. We also sincerely appreciate your honest feedback regarding the train ticket hiccup. Our apologies once again for the inconvenience and the communication challenges, especially during the busy Christmas period. While we’re pleased that everything was ultimately resolved properly, your comments help us improve our processes to ensure an even smoother experience in the future. It was a real pleasure organizing your trip, and we would be absolutely thrilled to welcome you back to Kenya again!

    Excellent Safari and Birding Trip!!

We had an excellent experience with Flash Motors. Peter ws always very responsive and helpful. We had wanted to also focus on birds, and Peter had said that his guide Edward was bird knowledgable. We couldn't have been happier with Edward. He is a special person, very positive, very helpful, and was indeed bird knowledgable. Overall it was a great experience!!

Peter is indeed a valuable member of our team, and we're delighted that he provided you with responsive and helpful service throughout your journey. It's fantastic to know that you had a special experience with our guide Edward. We're glad to hear that he not only exceeded your expectations in terms of bird knowledge but also impressed you with his positive and helpful demeanor. Wonderful Safari, Poor Communication

I really wanted to give this 5 stars. Loved working with a local company to create a custom 10 day safari to 4 parks. A skype call with the owner, Peter, helped me choose an itinerary, lodging, and other activities in our price point. But the lack of honest communication about payments left me confused about the company's operations. The Good: *Our guide Simon was friendly, knowledgeable, safe, flexible, professional. He was with us for 10 days and we never tired of spending time with him. Showed up on time or early everywhere and kept the van clean, full of waters, and accommodated me with safe bathroom and snack stops on all of our long drives! Simon is ten stars - the tourism industry is lucky to have him. *The recommended lodges were all WONDERFUL (Ashnil and Serena especially) and the parks were great. The Bad: *Communication seemed to lag as the days before the trip approached. Maybe this would have come in due time, but I had to request packing lists, meeting arrangements, guide information, and other logistics before even starting. (Everything was provided promptly and did go off without a hitch - I just needed to be able to plan for it). *On day 4, our itinerary was switched for days 4-10. We saw all the same parks but in a different order than planned. We inquired as to why out of curiosity but were never provided an explanation. It didn't change anything, but was odd. *On day 4 we were asked to cover the entrance fee (US $155) to Park #2 despite this being included in our pre-paid trip cost. It was a Sunday, banks were closed, so we did, with promise from owner Peter that we would be refunded in person on our way to the next park. Three days later, with no progress towards our refund, we were again asked to pay US $155 to exit Park #3. This time we refused, insisted that the guide work with Flash Mc Tours to transfer the money to the Park account or direct transfer to the guide so he can pay. After 30 minutes trying to locate the owner (Peter), we were told he would send the money. 90 minutes later, some of the money was sent, and hours later, the remainder. We pressed on. Arrival to the Park #4 was smooth with entrance fees paid. Days 7-10 we periodically inquired about our refund, and each time were told it was being sent within the hour. It never was. The refund finally arrived by electronic transfer to our guide 3 hours before the safari tour ended. It seems only one other review (from 7 years ago) mentions this sort of thing, although that group was asked to cover $2000 USD and missed a day of their tour. Perhaps hold the KATO number and reach out if you're asked to double-pay on your tour? Phone: 0722 434845 / 0713 762076. Email: info@katokenya.org. Also couldn't hurt to confirm with your guide before departing that all park entrance fees are paid!

Response from the operator: Jambo Sara Thank you for participating in the 10 day Kenya safari with Africa Flash McTours and Travel Thank you too for making time to post your feedback and also raising your disappointment with your safari tour administration. We are committed as a Tour operating company to offer the best services possible in the industry. This can be confirmed by the long list of satisfied safari participants in Kenya and entire East Africa. The regrettable challenges that you have mentioned, in regards to change in order of the safari parks on day 4 was because, it was closer to drive to Amboseli from Nairobi as opposed to driving to Samburu thus giving you sometime to rest after the previous safari. This should have been communicated and we apologies for that as well. It is also both regrettable and unfortunate that the safari booking process was not adhered to in this regard, with the park entry fees. We have thus put measures to ensure that this never happens again based on the recommendations you shared with us on phone. Hopefully this shall not be your last Kenya holiday safari in Kenya, with us. We look forward to hosting you and your friend and family in the near future. Best Regards Flash Mc Tours Team

More than I dreamed of.....wonderful adventure

For many years I had dreamed of taking my daughter and her family, including two sons, to Africa on safari. After contacting several outfitters we agreed that Peter at Africa Flash McTours listened well to what we wanted, responded rapidly and planned out a great itinerary for us. We loved our driver/guide, Simon, who was happy and interested, patient and enthusiastic, knowledgeable and diligent. We looked forward to exploring with Simon every day. He guided us to see every animal we had hoped to see and shared with us insights about the area and the animals. We were pleased and impressed by all whom we met who work for Flash McTours, including Simon's brother, Edward, who also guides. Our trip turned out to be more than I hoped for....and a wonderful way to share life experiences with three generations. I highly recommend this company.

Fabulous experience, great itinerary, and AMAZING guide!

From start to finish this experience was stellar. It was important to me to choose a Kenyan-owned operator and Africa FlashMC was a wonderful choice. Peter, the owner, tirelessly answered all of our questions throughout the process. I told him what our key desires were for the types of accommodations to the variety we were looking for and he created a fabulous itinerary for us. We got to meet him in person at the end of our trip and he's just as lovely in person as you'd think. We were travelling with our 12 and 14 year olds, as well as my parents, and it met all of our needs and expectations. We had our own jeep for our family which was near-new, comfortable and spacious. We were extremely fortunate to have Simon as our guide throughout the trip. He was fun, knowledgeable, extremely experienced, tenacious and dedicated to helping us see everything possible, more punctual than we were, a safe and experienced driver, and had an absolutely delightful personality. He added so much joy to our experience. His brother, Edward, is also a guide and we had the fortune of running into him a few times on the trip - equally delightful. In fact, other guides we met throughout the trip who worked for FlashMC were all stellar. We had James as our guide at Hell's Gate and he was amazingly attentive to my step-dad on the return bike ride. All this to say, clearly FlashMC chooses excellent staff in all regions. The diversity of the locations we visited was fantastic. We went to Ol Pejeta where we saw nearly everything. We LOVED the staff at Sweetwaters Serena camp. David was the server for our table while we were there and he was so kind and fun. Was helping us learn Swahili the whole time. There's a watering hole right in front of the dining area so at any given time, you might see rhinos, cape buffalo, or warthogs out the window. I LOVED Ol Pejeta and am so glad we went there. Next was Samburu which was so magical. The scenery was so different from Ol Pejeta and was a visual delight. Masai Mara does not disappoint as it is vast, open and beautiful in yet another way from the other locations. We got lucky and saw wilderbeasts migrating across the river and every other thing you dream to see on Safari. Again, had great staff at the Ashnil Mara camp, and hippos in the river right in front. One thing I was really impressed and grateful for at every camp was that the cooks were dedicated to making sure my mom had meals she could eat as she has allergies to specific foods. They were all extremely helpful this way and she had no issues the entire trip. Every camp had really great meal options. We also did the balloon trip in Masai Mara and it was incredible. Peter helped organize that also. I could go on and on about all the ways Peter and Simon helped create the experience of our dreams. I highly recommend using Africa Flash MC! I've already recommended it to 3 families who want to go to Kenya as I know they'll have a great experience. Go!!!

9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.

How much does 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari cost?

    +

Prices start at $5614 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari take?

    +

Plan for about 216 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.

Is 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 216-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 216-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 9- Days Classic Kenya Family Safari start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nairobi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 days group joining safari to Maasai Mara with a Land Cruiser Jeep, 1 Day trip to Hells Gate and optional Lake Naivasha From Nairobi, Nairobi Masai village Day Tour Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nairobi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nairobi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
