Excellent Service
We spent 8 days traveling with Danakil Depression Tours, visiting Lalibela, the Danakil Depression and the Omo Valley, and overall we had a really great experience. The trip was quite intense because we covered a lot in only 8 days, but that was exactly what we wanted. We wanted to see different parts of Ethiopia rather than stay in one area. Lalibela was our first stop. The rock-hewn churches were amazing to see in person. Our guide explained the history and gave us enough time to walk around and take photos. We had seen pictures before coming, but seeing the churches actually carved into the rock was completely different. Then came the Danakil Depression. This was probably the most unusual part of the trip. It was extremely hot, and the conditions are definitely not comfortable, but that is also what made it an adventure. The salt landscape and Dallol were incredible. The camping was basic, as expected, but the team did a good job preparing our meals and making sure we had enough water. After Danakil we traveled south to the Omo Valley. The driving was sometimes long and the roads were not always easy, but our driver handled them very well. We visited Mursi, Hamer and other communities and learned about their traditional way of life. It was interesting to see how different the cultures are from one part of Ethiopia to another. One thing we really liked was that the trip didn't feel completely rushed, even though we had a lot to cover. There were some long travel days, but the guides were flexible when possible and helped us understand what was happening. The communication with Danakil Depression Tours was also good. Whenever we had a question or needed something changed, they responded and tried to help. Everything was not luxurious, especially in Danakil, but we knew that before booking and it was part of the experience. Mickey and the whole team were friendly and reliable throughout the trip. We felt that they genuinely wanted us to have a good experience rather than just finish the tour and move on to the next group. For us, the best thing about this trip was the variety. In just eight days we went from ancient churches in Lalibela, to one of the most extreme landscapes we've ever seen in Danakil, and then to the very different cultures of the Omo Valley. It was definitely tiring at times, especially because of the long drives, but we are very happy we did it. Ethiopia surprised us in many ways, and Danakil Depression Tours made the trip much easier to organize. We would recommend them to anyone looking for an adventurous trip around Ethiopia. Just be prepared for some early mornings, long drives and basic conditions in Danakil — but that's part of the experience.

The entire trip was very well organized, and every experience was unforgettable. Our visit to Lalibela was truly incredible. The famous rock-hewn churches were breathtaking, and our guide Ayalew made the experience even more special with his deep knowledge of Ethiopian history, culture, and religion. He was friendly, professional, and always happy to answer our questions. Our driver Asfaw was also excellent — always punctual, careful, and making sure we were comfortable throughout the journey. The Danakil Depression was one of the most extraordinary places we have ever seen. From the colorful sulfur springs to the dramatic desert landscapes, everything felt like another planet. Our guide Zelalem was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, organized, and made us feel safe and well cared for during the entire trip. Traveling in such a remote and extreme environment requires experience, and he handled everything perfectly. The Omo Valley was another unforgettable highlight of our journey. 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Addis Ababa.
How much does 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours cost?
+
Prices start at $1,299 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Addis Ababa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours take?
+
Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Addis Ababa is not rushed.
Is 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Addis Ababa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Addis Ababa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Addis Ababa and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Addis Ababa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Addis Ababa?
+
On Outty we rank every Addis Ababa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Addis Ababa Authentic Private City Tour, Addis Ababa Guided City Tour With Airport & Hotel Pick Up, Full Day Tour of Addis Ababa with Hotel Pickup and Drop-off. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Addis Ababa?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Addis Ababa?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in 8 Days Lalibela,Danakil Depression and Omo Vally Tours?
