National Museum of Ethiopia
You will start your city tour of Addis Ababa with the National Museum of Ethiopia. This is one of the best museums in quality and diversity of the exhibits. Archeological exhibits include the 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh – ‘thou art wonderful’- in the native language), a hominoid woman of the specious of Australopithecus Afarensis. The discovery of Lucy’s fossil in 1974 forced a complete rethink of human genealogy, providing that our ancestors were walking 2.5 million years earlier than had been supposed. The National Museum also contains many wonderful artifacts dating back to pre-Axumite civilization. Please note that the National Museum Will be closed on Monday.

Mount Entoto
we will drive uphill to Entoto, which once was Emperor Minilik II’s permanent camp. Driving the hill there is a considerable drop in altitude and the air is filled with the scent of the Eucalyptus trees which cover the area. From the top, there is a panoramic view of the capital and surrounding countryside. Please note that entrance fee to the Entoto park is not included, If you wish to enter the park the cost will be 20 USD/Person

Great city tour with great guide and driver
I had a fantastic full day tour with Teshome and Teferi. From the pickup at the hotel to the end of the tour everything was very well organized and professional. Teshome is a very knowledgeable guide and answered all our questions. I would recommend this tour to everybody who wants to get a good insight in the city in 1 day!

I had a wonderful experience on my day tour of Addis Ababa! Teshome was an outstanding tour guide whose extensive knowledge of Ethiopian history, culture, and landmarks made the entire experience both educational and enjoyable. His ability to explain the significance of the places we visited gave me a much deeper appreciation for Ethiopia and its rich heritage. I would also like to recognize our driver, Teferi, for his excellent driving skills and professionalism. Navigating the busy, chaotic roads of Addis Ababa is no easy task, but he handled the traffic confidently, skillfully, and safely throughout the tour. I always felt that we were in capable hands. Together, Teshome and Teferi made the day memorable through their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to providing a great experience.

Addis Ababa and Ethiopia's history and culture.
I wanted to get a good understanding of Ethiopia's history and culture at the start of my first-time three week visit to Ethiopia, so I chose Viator's full-day tour of Addis Ababa which seemed to be the best option to accomplish this. Teshome, my guide, has in-depth knowledge of Ethiopia's history, geography and culture. As we toured the Nation Museum of Ethiopia and the Ethnological Museum, he took me through Ethiopia's historical development and cultural heritage from Lucy, up through Melenik I and II, Haile Salaisse, and modern day Ethiopia. Artwork at the Church of St. Mary of Zion is not to be missed during your Addis visit. Teferi, our driver guided us through Addis traffic and particularly the crowded and chaotic Merkato market - Africa's. largest open-air marketplace where you can seemingly buy anything you would ever want to own. We shared our personal experiences about Haile Salaisse. And yes, we had respectful discussions of politics and religion over Ethiopian coffee and lunch at Addis' oldest restaurant. So I highly recommend Viator's full-day Addis Ababa tour, with Teshome as your guide and Teferi as your driver, as your best option to immerse yourself in Ethiopian history and culture at the start of your adventure in Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa City tour
Friendly Driver and guide. Guide was generally informative. My favorite parts were the museums and Orthodox Church. The mountain park and market were not too interesting. There was nothing to learn from the park walk, and the market visit. We never got out of the van, and only learned little about market activities. Some parts of the tour seemed a little rushed, but overall I enjoyed the tour and would do it again.
