A good over of Transylvania, the last bastion left of authentic life in Europe

What a week of beautiful Transylvanian towns and countryside! George drove me for a week through Transylvania (I had no idea it was so big). Saw all the beautiful villages and towns, enjoyed the meals and palinca (plum brandy). He is a superb driver -- really enjoys driving and showing people around. And he is so knowledgeable about Romania, and Transylvania in particular. George took my suggestion for a hotel in Sighisoara seriously, and moved me from the first hotel that he booked for me to the hotel where I wanted to stay -- bravo! It was quite cute, and right in the old town. Be sure you spend time at Breb 148, his special treat at a very special village. Complete with hammock and some palica (plum brandy) on the kitchen table. And then George is quite a conversationalist, which helps when you travel together 4-6 hours a day in a car. I quite enjoyed his recounting of the end of Caucescu, the Romanian dictator who was assassinated by his soldiers in 1989.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much, Bill, for your kind words ! It was a real pleasure for me as well touring Transylvania with you and sharing all I know about it ! Best wishes and keep in touch !

Phenomenal Experience

He’s absolutely phenomenal and truly one of the best guides we’ve ever had. His deep knowledge of Romania’s history brought every place to life, and he shared fascinating stories that made the experience both educational and engaging. What we appreciated most was his flexibility — the tour hours were very accommodating, giving us plenty of free and easy time to explore on our own without feeling rushed. He’s professional, friendly, patient, and genuinely passionate about what he does, always happy to answer questions and tailor the experience to our interests. We felt completely comfortable and well taken care of throughout the tour. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an insightful, relaxed, and memorable experience in Romania.

Amazing Seven day private Transylvania tour

Our seven-day Transylvania private tour exceeded all expectations. George was incredibly knowledgeable about local history and hidden villages, bringing every stop—Sighisoara, Sibiu, Brasov, and the visits to Corvin, Bran, and Peles Castles—to life. The logistics were seamless, the vehicle was comfortable, and his English explanations were excellent. All of our hotels were in prime locations. We would absolutely book again.

Transylvania region. Fantastic guide

We had a fantastic time with George, he is an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for George and he made sure he accommodated for everyone on our trip. We loved Romania, and the Transylvania region. If you are thinking of booking with George, you will not regret it!

Seeing a beautiful country with a splendid guide.

It's important to understand that George is both the owner and sole employee of his company, TouringRomania. So there's no doubt that your guide to the country will be a lively, knowledgable, thoughtful, effective companion. George is a fantastic multitasker, who can drive safely and carefully while narrating complex historical and cultural terrain. He's great at tailoring a tour of whatever length to one's particular interests. He's flexible and talented at ferreting out great places to stay, dine, visit, and shop. He knows how to pace things just right, and he's friendly without being intrusive. We learned more about Romania than we've ever learned about any other country from any other guide (and we've been to over 40 countries). If I wasn't 86, with a lot of other places to go, I'd go back to Romania and George in a heartbeat, to see the beautiful regions of this fascinating country that we had to forego. Catch him if you can!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for this amazing review ! I wish you two all the best and many, many new travels !

7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest cost?

+

Prices start at $1500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest take?

+

Plan for about 168 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 168-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 168-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 7-Day Private Tour of Transylvania from Bucharest start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

+

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
