It was very memorable...
It was very memorable trip that we saw most signature areas of Romania in a week. Our guide/driver Alex D was awsome. He was knowleable, energetic, and patient. We were the only tourists in the group, so was a private tour group. It made our trip more flexible and in our pace. Romania has breathtaking views in the Carpathian Mountains. Rural area and countryside are a must to see. Romanian people are very friendly, welcoming and hospitable.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful 5-star review! We're thrilled your 6-day journey through Transylvania and Maramureș was so memorable — the Carpathian views and the countryside really are something special. We're glad the small group made the trip flexible and at your own pace, and we'll pass your kind words on to your guide, who will be delighted. Thank you for the lovely words about Romania and its people — we'd love to welcome you back for another adventure! — The One Excellence Tours Team

A Peek into Romania
What a great surprise when we realized that the only participants on this trip were my husband and I along with our driver/guide, Marius. What a knowledgeable and fun guide! He was genuinely passionate about his country, eager to make this trip comfortable for us and kept us in the loop about driving times which were sometimes long, but that was obvious from our choice to go from Bucharest to Maramures in such a short time . Our time spent in Breb was pure delight offering the dishes, the flavours and the wholesomeness with unbridled generosity. We loved the mountains, the bears, the food, the castles, the history and the people! Thanks Marius for your passion in selling your country to us.

See the real Romania
Wow! What a great 6 days to see Romania. We wanted to see a bit more than the typical Transylvania tour. Our guide was Marius, super friendly, fun and informative. By the end of the tour he felt more like a traveling friend than a guide. Tour was nicely paced, without early departing times. Plenty of free time to explore on your own. Hotels were all great, with my favorite being the home stay in Maramures. The home cooked meals by Elena were sooo good but her fresh baked bread was out of this world. I overstuffed myself both days. You see all the beautiful wooden churches, monasteries, cemeteries, mountains and farm life in Romania. We even saw a bear on the side of the road which is rare at our elevation. We got to spend more time at the location than you would with a one day tour. I would recommend this tour to anybody if you want to see the real Romania

Andrei from One Excellence Tours was the best!
Our tour guide Andrei was so knowledgeable, professional, and kind and tailored our trip to our interests and enjoyment. He showed us details of Romanian village life in addition to the tour, which was far better than any village museum tour. He was very obliging throughout the trip. As per our request, he took driving routes through the villages ( instead of using only highways) and gave us deeper insights into Romanian culture and living. He is extremely polite, courteous, pleasant, and caring. We highly recommend him for an authentic experience. His span of knowledge on any subject was impressive!

6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest
This is a BIG trip, which is perfect since this is a BIG country. Paul did a great job of putting together all the best parts of Romania in a six day whirlwind. If you are wanting to see more than Transylvania then this is the trip for you (though you get to see that too). Paul knew tons of history and could answer questions with ease. He has a love for his homeland and it shows. There is some driving, but like we said, it's a BIG country. We loved our time here and will be back to catch a few things we didn't have time for. When we do, we will call upon Paul to help us see the rest.

6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.
How much does 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest cost?
+
Prices start at $1200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest take?
+
Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.
Is 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 6-Days Transylvania & Wooden Churches of Maramures from Bucharest start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bucharest?
+
On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bucharest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bucharest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
