About this experience
Known as the “Coca-Cola” route, the Marangu route is a classic trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the oldest, most well established route. Many favour the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, due to its more gradual slope. It is also the only route which offers sleeping huts with dormitory style accommodation. There are 60 bunk beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.

Great Team at Tanzania Joy Tours.
TJT gave my daughter and I a great experience climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in 6 days. Our guides Ringo & Eden kept us on track and ensured we summited safely. Everything was well organized. The team of porters were a cheerful group of lads doing all the heavy work which was greatly appreciated. Thanks also to Peter and Arthur we weren't short for good meals every day.

Trekking to Uhuru Peak via Marangu Route.
My team were 6-persons who had experience in doing the climbing with them, it was good. Assistance guides was controlling his paths for us to follow. The Real Pole-Pole was happening for our team to do. This strategy could be the Winner Strategy for us to reach the Summit of Uhuru Peak. The most important for us was during our trek toward Summit, each ones of us did not carry any Day-pack, instead was assisted by assistance guide n portals. Even though no Day-pack, we felt so hard for us to move up n up. Only Patient that gave us the strength to move forward step-by-step. This trip was the first times for us to visit Africa and Foods was really Challenging for us. We have rice every day back home, like wise, For lunch, we had only Lunch Box so little Carbohydrate Loading as we used to have n dinner serves with soup n little protein n little Carbohydrate. The supporting team that was given by Tanzania Joy Tours for our team (6-persons) consisted of: 1-Guide; 2-Assistance Guide, 1-Chef n 22-Porters. We were wondering why so many supporting teams to join our trip. We had different experience with our trips in Nepal whereas every huts owned by a family who provide their services to serve breakfast or lunch or dinner. Anyway, Over all, we were satisfied with the assistance given by Tanzania Joy Tour - Mr. Emmanuel. Big Thank you. Regards///Simba as a Babu.

Expérience incroyable !
We spent 6 days on the Kilimanjaro (Marangu Route) with Tanzania Joy Tours and we could not be more satisfied with all what they did for us during this wonderful experience ! First, the communication by email was quick and very clear, Emmanuel was very helpful. Then, the crew we had for our ascension was incredible : 2 amazing guides, very skilled and ready to help anytime, 1 excellent cook, and 6 porters, who were always there when we needed anything. We loved the atmosphere created by the crew during the week : the smiles, the encouragements, the laughs, the great discussions, the little kind attentions, it played a great part in the experience. It is unforgettable… The ascension was perfectly organized, and this is mainly thanks to this team and to the guides’ advice that we managed to go to the top ! We could not recommend more Tanzania Joy Tours :) Thank you for everything !

6 Days Marangu Route Climbing: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.
How much does 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing cost?
+
Prices start at $2179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing take?
+
Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.
Is 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 6 Days Marangu Route Climbing start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moshi?
+
On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Kilimanjaro climb by Lemosho Route (7-day), Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moshi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moshi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
