Such a Fun and Memorable Experience
Our North Island trip was such a fun and memorable experience. Everything was well organized and when you visit with kids you will need flexibility to enjoy each place and that's what we appreciated most in our trip. Rotorua river rafting and Waitomo Glowworm Caves and Redwood Tree walk were some of our favourite moments. Hobbiton was just amazing, can not describe how much my kids loved it and Te Puia was such a beautiful cultural experience. The communication with Waimate Journeys was excellent from the start, and our guide made the trip feel very personal. He was friendly, patient, professional and always checking if we were comfortable or needed anything. Having someone so attentive made it easy for us simply enjoy the journey. We came back with plenty of story to tell. Highly recommend Waimate Journeys for the amazing memories.

This Tour was the Way to Enjoy the Experience Without Watching the Clock
What a wonderful trip we had in just 6 days! Auckland's volcanic view points and chose Muriwai the black sand beach and the gannet colony were such a nice surprise. Cathedral Cove was one of the highlight, especially being out on the water and then relaxing at Hot Water Beach afterwards. Hobbiton was every bit as magical as we imagined, but the Redwood Nightlights walk were our favourite evening experience. We decided to do Kaituna River rafting, which was a little crazy (especially the waterfall) but definitely worth it. The Maori cultural evening and hangi dinner was completely different side of New Zealand. Taupo and Huka Falls were beautiful, and the Huka jet was great fun. Waitomo caves was just magical, sitting in the dark under thousands of Glowworms gave us one of those moments we will remember for long time. Travelling with private guide made the huge difference as we could actually enjoy the scenery instead of spending hours driving and figuring out where to go next. So many stops that tempting to rush but having someone who knows the routes and timing meant we could enjoy the experience without constantly watching the clock. For us, it was the perfect mix of adventure, nature, food and just enough downtime. We would happily come again!

Wonderful Experience in North Island
I was skeptical about booking this tour at first because I thought we could just drive ourselves. But after looking at so much to do and so much to see, it felt overwhelming. I am so glad we chose this tour instead. We got to experience so many places and activities that we didn't even know existed and everyday had something exciting to look forward to. The vehicle was always clean and tidy and comfortable with plenty of legroom which is best for road trips. It was also stocked with bottled water and snacks which made longer drive more enjoyable. Glowworm Caves, Black Water Rafting, Kaituna River Rafting and Hobbiton was the highlights of our trip. If you are unsure about self driving, I would definitely recommend this tour. It saves you the stress of planning and driving and lets you enjoy the best of the North Island.

Fantastic 6 Days in North Island
Rago was awesome guide, he made our trip really pleasant, fun and enjoyable with his friendly nature and local knowledge. We couldn't ask for a better way to see the North Island in 6 days. The itinerary was packed with amazing places like Waiheke Island, Hobbiton, Rotorua, Coromandel, Taupo, Waitomo but never felt rushed. Having private guide meant we could just enjoy the journey while everything was taken care of and that's what matters as we could just relax and enjoyed. Great accommodation options were provided and we had amazing stay . We choose to experience Aranui Cave and Raukuri Cave Tour along with Waitomo Caves which was magical experience.

Well Planned Trip With So Many Great Experiences
This tour was worth every dollar for us and we really enjoyed that we didn't have to worry about driving, booking hotels or planning the route. In just 6 days we covered so many places that would have been difficult to organize ourselves. Everyday was different to the other we explored Waihake Island, cruised to Catherdral Cove, relaxed at Hot Water Beach, visited Hobbiton, walked through the beautiful Redwoods at night and enjoyed the Maori Culture experience. We had so much fun rafting on Kaituna River. The Huka Jet was exciting and finishing with the Waitomo Glowworm Caves was just amazing. Our guide was always on time and knew the area well and made sure we had enough breaks along the way. highly recommend this tour to explore North Island without any stress.

6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.
How much does 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $3700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 144 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.
Is 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 144-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 144-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 6 Day Northern Loop New Zealand Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Queenstown?
+
On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Queenstown?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Queenstown?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
