Tired, Happy, and Engaged Child; Thrilled Parent

My 14 year-old son went solo on the teen version of this backpacking trip. The knowledgeable and capable trip leaders knew exactly how to work with him to maximize his experience in terms of technical hiking and bouldering, learning new life skills, and educating about the local flora/fauna. Challenged often, yet with ample time to explore, play, and engage with the surrounding nature, my son had the time of his life, tired but happy. He could not wait to get the trip pictures back from the leaders, or the pictures from the disposable film camera he packed. Mom liked the on-point communications before, during and after the trip. And my son is already asking about doing another adventure next summer, this time a longer one with more mountain peaks and glaciers. Yay!

6-Day Teen Backpacking Adventure - Great Experience!

My son had a great experience with Lasting Adventures, enjoying the Teen 6-day adventure along the Olympic Coast. The guides were great and took good care of the group. He went alone and quickly made friends with the other teens in the group. Lasting Adventures was easy to communicate with throughout the planning process, answered all questions and replied to emails & phone calls quickly. The shuttle service option was a big help as well. We'll be looking at future trips in the upcoming summers. I'd recommend Lasting Adventures for anyone interested in this experience.

Amazing 13 day summer teen backpacking trip

My 15-year old just returned from an epic 13-day adventure in Olympic National Park with guides Anna and Julien. It was an amazing trip and he loved everything about it and has been sharing incredible stories with us ever since he returned. The first week was spent along the coast, and the second week up in the staircase area. He made many good friends, learned a ton from his guides, had a lot of fun and learned about plants and knot tying and how to set up the tarp. He also did a trip in Yosemite a few years ago with Lasting Adventures, and I can't recommend this company highly enough. The tour guides are knowledgeable, responsible, and great with teens. The company is also just super responsive over email and always gets back to you right away with any questions. My son seemed more confident and mature when he returned home, and really connected with the place and the people on his trip! Not only was it just good for him to disconnect from busy life for a few weeks and be out in beautiful nature, but he also just had so much fun playing card games, trail games, and joking around with the teens on his trip. In his words, "it was pretty much flawless.". He is already looking at trips for next summer:). (Also appreciated the communication from the van pickup which made for an easy first time solo airplane flight).

Peak experience for my 11 yo daughter

My family hikes quite a lot, camps as well. But my 11yo daughter had never carried a large/real pack and this was her first overnight camp and multi-day separation from parents. My daughter was eager if mom was a little nervous. But this group put my mind at ease. Great communication, clear prep instructions, we were ready for a real adventure! The starting site and park were incredibly beautiful, great summer weather. On-site park rangers were well aware of the group which made me feel better as there was no cell service and the kids were remote for days. I stayed for the initial orientation, where the kids did a thorough inventory and were instructed on how to create a balanced pack, take care of their gear and then get it on and fit it. The gal leading the group was clearly very experienced and had a no nonsense yet fun, helpful vibe and was a font of knowledge. I really liked the small group, the similar ages (narrow age range) and most of the kids there had little to no camping experience so it felt very approachable. I was amazed 5 nights, 6 days later to pick up to a beaming kid, that clearly felt powerful, wild and independent despite being mosquito-bitten and sleeping in the open on hard ground for 5 nights. The first thing she said was not "hi dad", nor did she run to us...she said, "can I do this again next year?!" It remains her favorite camp. We will be back. With friends next time (not needed, just want to spread the goodness).
